Joni Bastian, Vice President of Student Affairs at McKendree University, is one of those people. When I arrived on campus, I did not know a single person. During my time at McKendree, I became connected and friends with the Student Affairs staff. They took me under their wing and were my parents away from home. Joni’s passion for current and former students is easy to see and comes through in her dedication to nurturing each student. She guides them through their time on campus, keeps in touch with them after graduation, attends their weddings, and loves their kids as if they were her own. Joni has always been there to support and encourage me – through law school, in starting my career, and in life decisions. I don’t know where life would have taken me without Joni, but I am thankful that I met her when I was a young college student.
