?? We had an incredible time last week at the 40th Anniversary Opportunity Finance Network Conference in Los Angeles! ??
Together with our CDFI peers and partners, we celebrated progress, shared insights on overcoming challenges, and brainstormed strategies that will empower us all to drive meaningful impact in our communities.
?? HAF’s Jan Lindenthal-Cox joined Steven Henry, CFA of UnitedHealth Group, Ryan Mosley of CSH, the Source for Housing Solutions, and Philip Kramer of Housing Matters for the “Bridging Health and Housing†session, exploring partnerships with healthcare companies to expand resources for permanent supportive housing. The panel proudly spotlighted Housing Matters’ Harvey West Studios in Santa Cruz—a 120-unit permanent supportive housing development with an on-site clinic that recently broke ground. The project received a catalytic $15 million investment from UnitedHealth Group alongside financing from the San Francisco Housing Accelerator Fund and our Bay Area Housing Innovation Fund.
HAF’s Tamar Dorfman and Kati Vastola also collaborated with Mark Doherty of the San Francisco Foundation to discuss how community foundations can partner with CDFIs, especially to enhance access to impact capital like Donor-Advised Funds. We highlighted the HAF & SFF Home for Good Fund partnership, which has channeled over $25 million in extremely low-cost, flexible DAF loans to HAF projects and was recently upsized and extended! Thanks to the magic of conference connections, the brave and brilliant Megan Loeb of The Oregon Community Foundation joined as a last-minute speaker, sharing inspiring examples of OCF-CDFI partnerships that support affordable housing and small businesses.
A big thank you to everyone who made this event possible—especially to the Opportunity Finance Network staff, our amazing co-panelists, and all who attended. We left feeling more motivated than ever to make a difference! Here’s to fostering opportunity, advancing equity, and the next 40+ years of transformational impact. ????
Reach out to keep the conversations going!
