Meet new SDICF ACSW Jessica Foulk! “I have specific experience working with children and families. Through the use of age-appropriate games and activities paired with evidence-based treatment modalities, I work with children on identifying feelings, naming emotions, social skills, and emotional regulation. I have found that Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Attachment Theory are effective in working with children. I may also work with families on communication and fostering trust in relationships.” - Jessica Foulk, MSW, ACSW Learn more about Jessica, and schedule an appointment, at https://lnkd.in/g-fTnW3x We know how to help you! #SDICF?#Therapy?#family?#socialwork?#selfcare

“In psychology, the word “attachment” is used a lot. Attachment Theory originated in 1958 when John Bowlby began researching infants’ attachment to their parents, and the stages of the infant/ parent attachment. Sue Johnson (founder of Emotionally Focused Therapy) expanded attachment theory to include how we as individuals attach to those around us from the cradle to the grave. So why may it be important to understand and explore your early attachment? The research tells us that by knowing how secure you felt as a child, you will be able to better understand how secure you feel in your adult relationships. Simply put, if you find yourself in similar patterns of attachment in adult relationships, and you want to make a change, exploring your early attachment may be a way to grow and heal.” -?Marlee Cornue, LPCC Read more about exploring attachment in therapy here: https://lnkd.in/gHjre76A We know how to help you! #SDICF?#relationshipgoals?#parenting?#mentalhealth?#wellnessjourney

Setting boundaries with family during the holidays is essential for your well-being! Start by identifying what feels overwhelming and setting clear expectations about time, topics, or responsibilities. Communicate your needs early and kindly, using positive language like, “We’re excited to see everyone, but we’ll need to leave by 5 PM.” Be prepared for pushback and calmly reiterate your boundaries without guilt. Practice self-care, have an exit plan if needed, and lean on supportive loved ones to help reinforce your limits. Focus on maintaining respect and prioritizing what works best for you. Being an introvert doesn't mean a lack of desire for connection; it just looks different. Introverts often form deep bonds with a select few, but social interactions can sometimes feel draining rather than energizing. By the time they are with their partner, they may feel too depleted to fully enjoy their company. Looking for more insights on dating as an introvert?
