These international films showcase environmental stories from around the world, highlighting incredible places and people. Stay tuned as we finalize our dates for 2025!??? ?

Hi SDEFF?community members! We are happy to announce we are kicking off our monthly events starting this March!??? We would love for you to join us on a hike at the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve led by SDEFF President, Cindy J. Lin. ?? After enjoying the beautiful views on the trail, we invite you to bring your own lunch for a picnic!??? There is also the Nature LEED Platinum-certified Nature Center with fun exhibits that teach about the history of the reserve?and the plants?and animals that live there. Date:?Sunday, March 30? Time:?Meet at 9:30am with guided hike at 10am BYOL?- bring your own lunch for a picnic afterwards! Location:? We are excited about this event organized by Nature, Space and Politics. Registration is now open for the?February 7th relaunch?of the much anticipated symposium,?"Displacement and Reparation: Climate, Labor and Migration Justice"?symposium?(See the attached flier). In collaboration with the Human Rights & Migration Program, the Communication Department's Democracy Lab, Muir College, and the UC San Diego Library, we invite you to a full day and evening of conversations exploring the interconnected themes of climate change, human and more-than-human displacement, and calls for reparation across the Americas and Pacific Islands. Through presentations, discussions, workshops and a film screening, we will engage with the cascading concerns of human and ecological fragility and agency in this interconnected region with scholars, activists, artists, journalists, librarians, and scientists. Join us in reengaging in these vital conversations with at this symposium on February 7th (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Seuss Room, Geisel Library, 5:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. The Loft, Price Center East) Please scan the QR code to register! 2025 is here and that means our film submissions for the 4th Annual SDEFF are OPEN!? We invite filmmakers worldwide?to submit their?environmental films on FilmFreeway.com/SDEFF Last year, 100 films were submitted from almost 30 different countries. These films inspired action and left a lasting impression on our judges and we know 2025 will do the same!
