Today’s monthly membership meeting was incredible! Thank you to Kristen Becker, Nadine Mutoni, Tracy Knepple, and everyone at Belmont Village Senior Living Sabre Springs for such amazing hosts. We distributed the socks from our annual Socks For Seniors drive to The Arc of San Diego (Felicity Thomas and Gabrielle Sarmiento were there to receive) and Gary and Mary West PACE (Board Member Elizabeth Gallaga and Mary Jurgensen were there to receive). We will also be giving a lot of socks to seniors in the LA area who were affected by the fires. We also have our annual donations to local non-profits that serve San Diego’s seniors. This year’s recipients were Elder Law & Advocacy (Jenna MacRae was there to receive), Meals on Wheels San Diego County (Aisse Saaib and Douglas Breuer were there to receive), and the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA. Finally, our featured speaker was Deputy District Attorney Scott Pirrello. Scott shared a ton information about the latest elder scams. Thank you for all you do to help protect our most vulnerable citizens. Thank you to our Board Members for your hard work and dedication to SDCCOA and its membership: President Bryan Devore Vice President Joel Weissler Membership Chair Craig May Treasurer Gloria James Programs Chair Melanie Delgado, EMBA, PMP Ways and Means Elizabeth Gallaga Issues and Special Programs Evelyn Parada Member At Large Jacqueline Gogue

A big thank you to the support of the San Diego Seniors Community Foundation for our Socks For Seniors drive. Through their relationship with Bombas, they were able to distribute socks to senior centers throughout San Diego - including the Cathy Hopper Senior Citizen Center (big thank you to Sharon Rose Moninger and Kristi Fenick for your help). Skyler Lemire from AgeWell San Diego helped me with the socks which will be delivered to three organizations - two in San Diego and one in LA (to help seniors affected by the fires). You still have a few days to support our Socks For Seniors drive. Order some from Amazon here: https://lnkd.in/gVMkqVcH

This was the largest turnout for an SDCCOA meeting in a long time! There are too many people to tag, so if you see yourself, tag yourself. I will tag the board members who were present - Craig May, Elizabeth Gallaga, Melanie Delgado, EMBA, PMP, Jacqueline Gogue, and Evelyn Parada. Missing were Joel Weissler and Gloria James. A huge thank you to Wesley Palms, a Front Porch Communities & Services Community. Thank you, Mike Farrar, Sherry Drake, Justin Weber, and everyone there for rolling out the red carpet for our group. Looking forward to seeing everyone next month when we announce the recipient non-profit organizations of our annual donations as well as the recipients of our Socks For Seniors drive.
