In November 1989, downtown San Diego transformed with the opening of an architecturally unconventional convention center. With a nautical theme and dramatic views of the city and bay, the San Diego Convention Center became a world-renowned destination for meetings, trade shows, and more. ? In this season of gratitude, we’ll reflect on elements of this 35-year history and the many people who have contributed to our shared successes. First up: iconic moments!

Last night, the San Diego Business Journal convened the business community to honor and support our local veteran leaders in industry. Our Chief Operating Officer, Corey Albright, was recognized at the event for his strategic leadership in our organization and his service to our nation as a U.S. Navy combat veteran. The event highlighted the impact veterans have on the success of our businesses, community, and the City of San Diego as a whole.

Our President and CEO Rip Rippetoe CVE made Eventex’s 2024 list of the 100 Most Influential Venue Professionals. Through a sequence of nominations and then a public vote, the global list recognizes professionals who influence the industry with “their creativity, vision, and capacity for innovation.”? ? Honoring the best convention centers for trade show and events, Exhibitor Group has ranked the San Diego Convention Center among the Top 25 Centers of Excellence in North America!
