Three years ago this week, I took a leap into the unknown. It was time for a change, and I was terrified. After 28 years in the hospitality industry, I stood at the edge of the high dive, ready to plunge into the uncharted waters of business. Closing the chapter on an exciting and illustrious career, I felt the pull of something new...a calling to serve in a different way. I wanted to give back to the community, to champion business owners, and to be their cheerleader, mentor, and advocate. That leap brought me to the BBB Pacific Southwest, Central & Inland California and I haven’t looked back. These past three years have been the most electrifying, challenging, impactful, and rewarding of my entire professional journey. I’ve learned, grown, and stretched myself in ways I never imagined. It’s been a whirlwind of connection, contribution, and profound purpose, and I am here for every moment of it. Now, three years later, I find myself listed on the San Diego Business Journal’s SD500—a list of the most influential people in San Diego. To say I’m humbled doesn’t even begin to cover it. To be recognized alongside so many bold, badass, and brilliant leaders, including our incredible CEO, Matthew Fehling is an honor like no other. I didn’t land here alone. I owe this moment to the incredible San Diego business community, to the mentors who’ve guided me, to the supporters who’ve lifted me, to the entrepreneurs who have shared and been vulnerable with me, and to the entire BBB system that has championed and inspired me every step of the way. I am humbled, grateful, honored, and so incredibly proud. Thank you to the San Diego Business Journal, and congratulations to my fellow changemakers recognized this year.
