OnWord Theatre presents Hillary and Clinton by Lucas Hnath is a sharp and thought-provoking exploration of power, marriage, and ambition set against the backdrop of a fictionalized 2008 presidential campaign. The play imagines an alternate universe where Hillary, a determined politician, and her husband Bill navigate the complexities of their relationship and the relentless pressures of public life. With wit and humanity, Hnath examines the personal and political challenges faced by individuals under the glare of public scrutiny, offering a nuanced and unconventional take on the figures at its center. 2025 Arts Ecosystem: Venues & Spaces - The application for this grant opportunity is open from March 5, 2025 - April 30, 2025. Over the past two years, Prebys Foundation has invested in the arts ecosystem to strengthen organizational capacity, reach new audiences, and deliver engaging programs that foster dialogue, connection, and belonging. Another critical capacity need for our region is affordable, accessible venues and spaces. This initiative’s goals are to: Enchance access to quality venues and spaces; Build the capacity of the arts and culture organizations managing and/or activating these spaces. Art of Wine: Provence and Impressionism with Barbara Baxter, link in bio for tickets, at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library Thursday, March 20, 2025, 7:30 PM Light and love are served up in the art and wines of Southern France. Rounded and golden, soft and opulent—are we talking about wines from Provence or Impressionist art? We will explore this rewarding land and its culture. Barbara Baxter studied wine academically at the Sorbonne in Paris and has continued her inquiry into the heritage of wine for more than a decade. She created visitor education programs for Francis Ford Coppola?s Rubicon Estate and has worked for Napa Valley?s most prestigious wineries: Sterling Vineyards and Opus One. She is the editor of Planet Wine and has also made wine in Napa Valley. Baxter has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, has lectured at major museums and universities in California, including the Getty Malibu, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Athenaeum Arts & Music Library, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center in Orange County, and The Huntington. https://hubs.ly/Q03b_2gn0

Art Scene West Film Festival - Art Scene West is calling film makers nation-wide to submit for their chance to be part of this first-ever film festival hosted in downtown San Diego’s Seaport Village. For 2 nights we will be screening the featured 10 films selected for this festival. The screenings will be held publicly outside and projected onto a screen in our beautiful courtyard. An open call for all cinematography styles under 25 minutes. This open call can be in whichever style you choose, but must be PG-13. So whether it is a documentary, narrative, interview, 1st-person, comedy, drama, montage, romance… we want to review your film for chance to be one of the featured films that we screen to our audience. The accepted films will be projected onto a screen in traditional horizontal (landscape) orientation. Selected films will also play on our in-gallery television throughout our business hours. On Saturday, April 26th, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and runner-up placements will also be announced. They will be reviewed by our panel of judges based on 1.) overall plot 2.) acting and character development 3.) directing and 4.) cinematography. Still Life Workshop Spring Flowers with Pat Kelly Thursday,3/20/25 9 AM–1:30 PM Athenaeum Music & Arts Library Paint from a beautiful still life inspired by spring flowers! This is a one-day intensive workshop focusing on painting flowers alla prima. Students will learn about composition by designing and setting up a floral still life. We will take a closer look at the structure of flowers and techniques for painting them.

Workshop: Block Printing On Paper And Fabric With Olivia Stober - Saturday, March 15 from 10am to Noon at Pacific View Arts Center in Downtown Encinitas. Create your own linocut blocks and print them onto paper or fabric in the block printing workshop by local artist Olivia Stober. Participants will be guided through the process of drawing and carving a lino block and learning how to press prints by hand. Pre-drawn designs available to trace for those interested in the printmaking process but intimidated by drawing up their own design. Feel free to come prepared with a sketch or let your imagination flow as you get a feel of the unique art form. Paper and tote bags will be provided for creating prints.
