Transportation Funding Solutions for an Improved Quality of Life
关于我们
The San Antonio Mobility Coalition is a non-profit corporation organized in 2001 to advocate for highway, street, transit, freight, and aviation funding for the greater San Antonio region. SAMCo members include Bexar County, the City of San Antonio, VIA Metropolitan Transit, the Alamo Area MPO, the Alamo RMA, AACOG, neighboring cities, San Antonio headquartered corporations, chambers of commerce, the transportation construction and materials industry, the real estate development community, the financial sector, consulting engineers and other interested organizations. The coalition was borne out of a need to remain competitive with other Texas cities and to address a significant transportation funding shortfall in the San Antonio region. Since its inception, SAMCo has helped to secure more than $12.2 billion in additional funding for transportation projects in the region. That $12.2 billion in direct capital investment represents a total local economic impact of between $33 and $61 billion (based on a multiplier of 3x to 5x for transportation investments).

Yesterday, SAMCo members convened in Austin for SAMCo Day. We focused on introducing SAMCo and outlining our transportation priorities for San Antonio and the surrounding region through meetings with senators, representatives, commissioners, and their staff. We appreciate the representatives and members of the governor's office who joined us for lunch. Thank you to all the SAMCo members who participated. An extra special thanks to Woolpert who sponsored our lunch. We're eager to continue fostering these relationships with the elected officials we met.

Today, history was made for San Antonio transit! VIA Metropolitan Transit was awarded a $268 million Full-Funding Grant Agreement from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), the largest federal grant in VIA’s history. This funding will bring the VIA Rapid Green Line—the region’s first Advanced Rapid Transit (ART) corridor—to life. The VIA Rapid Green Line will connect key areas like the San Antonio International Airport (SAT), Downtown, the historic Missions, and Brooks. Designed to move more people faster and farther, this project includes: ? Off-board fare collection for speedier boarding ? Level platform boarding for greater accessibility ? Synchronized traffic signals to reduce travel times ? Corridor-wide improvements to sidewalks, intersections, and drainage Thanks to voters who approved the 2020 sales tax initiative, this project now has the critical funding needed for construction. With 54,000 residents and 108,000 jobs along the corridor, the VIA Rapid Green Line is a game-changer for San Antonio, connecting more people to jobs, education, health care, and entertainment. Learn more about how the VIA Rapid Green Line will transform mobility in San Antonio. ?? https://lnkd.in/gccCSfrS. #keepSAmoving #RideVIA #FutureofTransit #PublicTransit #Transportation

SAMCo had the honor of joining the TxDOT and Texas Transportation Commission Chairman J. Bruce Bugg Jr. for the ribbon cutting of the first flyover ramp at the Loop 1604 and I-10 West Interchange. This is just the first of many improvements TxDOT is working on to improve San Antonio’s congestion on our roadways! Thank you TxDOT for your work and your commitment to our city!
