This is a shocking statistic that highlights the scale of the mental health crisis among those who have served in the military. ? Suicide in the U.S. – Alarming Numbers: ?? 2022: More than 49,000 suicides – the highest number in recorded history. ?? 2023: Preliminary data indicates that this tragic trend continues, with 49,300 cases. ?? Veterans: In 2021, the suicide rate among active-duty service members was 24.3 per 100,000 – significantly higher than the general population (14.2 per 100,000 in 2022). ?? The trend is clear – suicide rates among veterans and the general population have reached alarming levels. In Poland, according to data from the National Police Headquarters, 4,845 suicides were reported in 2024—a 21.4% decrease compared to 2014, when 6,165 cases were recorded.
