Be The Change by Jewish Arts Collaborative is an annual public art movement inspired by social justice. Envisioned by Laura Mandel, it brings together local artists to create public sculptures that illuminate the pressing issues of our time. It was a treat to attend the opening hosted by Samuels & Associates in The Fenway to meet the artists and experience Be The Change with founding JArts board member Jessica Alpert! From jewisharts.org, "The tzedakah box is a small box in which Jews traditionally collect loose change to be donated to the needy. It symbolizes a timeless commitment to justice within the Jewish tradition. Yet, our mission transcends loose change. The weight of global injustice is overwhelming, and art has the transformative power to amplify important voices. In 2021, I took on a more active role as a volunteer leader with Massachusetts Apartment Association (MAA) and joined the Board of Directors. I immediately found satisfaction and fulfillment in contributing to board discussions on key industry topics and navigating the evolving landscape of property management. In 2023, I advanced to the role of Treasurer, and in 2025, I will proudly assume the position of President of MAA. In preparation for this exciting new chapter, I participated in the year-long National Apartment Association (Naahq) Leadership Lyceum program, where I gained valuable insights into becoming a rising leader and the significance of engaging in volunteer leadership roles.?I look forward to applying what I’ve learned to lead thoughtful and engaging board discussions and events for MAA, but also in my role as VP of Portfolio Operations at Samuels & Associates.?Thank you to NAA for a thoughtful and well planned leadership program!

? Samuels & Associates had a hugely successful company softball game where the Grand Slamuels took on the Samuels Sluggers in a 15-11 slugfest! Everyone came to play with coworkers and families watching from the sideline. It was a great time to build relationships outside of the office with teammates from all parts of S&A, from our HQ to the buildings we manage! ?

Last week, we officially welcomed CarGurus to their new global headquarters at 1001 Boylston Street, right in the heart of Back Bay. As the No. 1 visited digital auto platform for shopping, buying and selling new and used vehicles, CarGurus embodies the innovation and community spirit that our project aims to foster. After over a decade of planning, design, and construction, seeing their name light up the Boston skyline is truly a milestone for all of us at Samuels & Associates, the City of Boston, and the Commonwealth. Lyrik, like every project we take on, is about more than just bricks and mortar - it's about creating spaces that fuel innovation, connection, and community. CarGurus' new space does just that, providing a flexible, collaborative environment that mirrors their mission of helping people get where they need to go. A huge thank you to the entire CarGurus team for choosing to make 1001 Boylston their new home, and to everyone who helped bring this vision to life - from Jason Trevisan and our partners at CarGurus, to Governor Maura Healey, Mayor Michelle Wu, City Councilor Sharon Durkan, the local community, and the entire project team at Samuels and beyond. Last month, we had the pleasure of hosting a Lyrik-al morning at 1001 Boylston, welcoming brokers from across Boston to tour the last remaining square feet of lab and office space — complete with stunning views and freshly brewed George Howell Coffee Company. It was a sneak peek filled with exciting updates, including CarGurus, Rivian, citizenM hotels, and the Lyrik Plaza grand openings. A huge thank you to our incredible partners Lauren Lipscomb, Charles Kavoogian, Margaret Fee at CBRE and Peter Sougarides for making the event such a success! Shoutout to Weesh Bake Shop for their delicious micro-batch pop tarts and Pink Carrot (coming to Lyrik in 2025!) for catering an incredible spread!

“A September to Remember” – Sean Broderick, RA Over a decade ago, planning began to deliver a once in a lifetime air-rights project, embarking on a journey that no one in Boston had completed in more than forty years since Copley Place. Today, Lyrik stands as a new gateway to the city and a vibrant anchor for the Back Bay neighborhood. There’s been some amazing moments and energy this past month as we welcomed the start of Lyrik Back Bay’s grand opening season - Back Bay’s newest open-air plaza opened to the public, CarGurus moved into their new headquarters at 1001 Boylston, and citizenM hotels celebrated the opening of citizenM Back Bay, the largest hotel in their portfolio. No photos could ever do justice the magic that is watching people cross over from Newbury St. and fall in love with Lyrik in a way that's personal to them. In just a few short weeks of being open, you can already see the impacts of this transformative development, from the improved street-level experience and safer pedestrian and bicycle connections to the second-level viewing deck and people gathering to watch the sun set to the West.
