I started SafelyYou because of the role Alzheimer's played in my family. As a grad student at Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research, I felt like I had a 10-year window to build what I wanted for my mom before she reached the same point her mom and big sister reached. Almost 10 years to the day, just before Thanksgiving, my mom had a bad fall. She had just moved, and we didn't have the SafelyYou system in place yet. When she told me she had fallen repeatedly already and hadn't told anyone about it, you can imagine the guilt I felt. When her surgeon shared some unexpected risks before going into the operating room, you can imagine the fear. Her surgery went as well as it could have and she's recovered amazingly well since then thanks to an amazing surgeon, an incredible support team, and through a lot a sheer force of will from our family. The experience was painful, eye opening, and really important for me to see for myself. There is a better way. AI is moving quickly, and we at SafelyYou are making sure that no one is going to benefit more than our seniors and their caregivers. Cindy Blanco Ochoa Blanco has stepped down as CEO of MiSalud Health to run Economic Development for the state of Jalisco. Notably, she will be the first woman in State history to hold this position and our team is excited to see her impact. I join an incredibly talented MiSalud Health team, led by my co-founder and COO, Wendy Johansson. The US spends nearly 20% of its GDP on healthcare and yet 37% of people live in places where they are not able to get care - health deserts.
