We are proud to announce that our very own lead STEM educator, Giselle De Leon, will be featured tonight on KLRN's ?SALUD! at 7:30 P.M.! ?SALUD! covers the stories of Latina leaders in San Antonio. Tune in and listen to Giselle share her story as a life long member of the Thompson Community in the heart of Port San Antonio. Giselle plays a crucial role in our mission at SAMSAT, creating curriculum, delivering lessons, managing events, and managing programs. We are beyond thrilled to see her hard work and dedication as a community leader get recognition. Congratulations Giselle!!

SAMSAT opens the week with some great news to share... We announce receipt of an award, via our partner RTI International, as part of the Defense STEM Education Consortium (DSEC). SAMSAT will receive significant support for our citywide R20 Premier Esports League, using the engagement of esports to drive learning outcomes for students. We will also implement "DoD STEM Mode in AREA 21," using the engagement of SAMSAT AREA 21(r) at the Boeing Center at Tech Port, our museum and science center at Port San Antonio, to share information about DoD civilian STEM careers. The program will also support 70 field trips over the two years of the award. DSEC is part of DoD STEM, operated by the Department of Defense, promoting civilian STEM careers, including through STEM outreach and education for K-12 students. TEAM 688: 1st Lt. Erica Sandberg, 33rd Cyberspace Operations Squadron “I commissioned in 2021, with a degree in cybersecurity. It's something that's always fascinated me, so I wanted to continue to see where that took me. Now, I am the OIC of cloud security operations…We didn't know the route for cloud in the beginning, because it was so new to everyone involved, and we learned through trial-and-error what was best for us. We've had some ups and downs, but we're in a good space because now we're developing things on our own. We also have those key industry partners that have helped get us to where we are right now. Now, we get to take better control of our landing zone in security aspects, and provide better security for all of our mission partners along with us. I think we're building something incredible with a small team, and it's going to be really cool to see in the end.”
