“Am I the only woman here?”
That’s how it felt sometimes. Starting in finance, there were not many women and the women who were around, for the most part, operated on their own islands.
Not because they wanted to, but because that’s the way it had always been: each practitioner?as a “lone wolf.”
This weekend at SXSW, I saw rooms full of women coming together as professional advisors, founders, and investors. The energy, focus, and excitement for building, investing, and working with new technology was powerful.
These women weren’t just succeeding, they were collaborating, supporting, curating and exchanging resources.
I smiled and thought: Women are not lone wolves, we are LIONESSES. And lionesses hunt together.
It was electrifying to see the number of women who want to talk about money, invest their values, compare notes on entrepreneurship, share resources and lift each other up.
What a perfect way to kick off SXSW and International Women’s Day.
Thank you so much to the @ayanafoundation for inviting me to share Fin Rock with such an inspiring community dedicated to empowering women founders. Finance, like music, can be even more powerful when shared.
I’m excited to continue the conversation.
