Kicking it off! Day Two of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Federal Small Business Conference in New Orleans, LA started with a US Navy All Hands meeting led by Rear Adm. Dean VanderLey, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Commander and Chief of Navy Civil Engineering Corps (CEC). The Chief provided insight on a multitude of topics, including the current state of CEC and NAVFAC, updates on the Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP), Shore Command and Control (Shore C2) and U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) construction. He wrapped the meeting with a Q&A portion where he answered questions from attendees. North Atlantic Division Commander Brig. Gen. John Lloyd had the opportunity to present about USACE's role in the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse response effort to senior government leaders at the Eisenhower Building in Washington, D.C., this week. The event, the NATO Resilience Expert Consultation, focused on case studies where presenters offered lessons learned and best practices during projects and events where resiliency was a central aspect, meant to help inform NATO's own efforts abroad.
