Remote work continues to dominate the conversation, and for good reason—teams everywhere are navigating how to stay connected and productive. Our latest blog post dives into the idea of “bursty” communication and why it’s more than just a buzzword. The key takeaway? It’s not about constant chatter or rigid schedules. Teams thrive when they find the right balance between deep work, quick bursts of collaboration, and intentional communication. At Same Team, we believe in giving teams the tools and trust they need to make that balance work—on their own terms. ?? When Icebreakers Attack: Making Team Connections Meaningful ?? Icebreakers are meant to bring people together, but as Greg Storey points out in his latest post, sometimes they can have the opposite effect—especially for introverts. We've all heard, "Tell us something interesting about yourself," but have you ever thought about how that question might put someone on the spot in a way that feels anything but interesting? Instead of traditional "fun fact" icebreakers, Greg suggests team-oriented questions that foster real connection without the stress. His post dives into approachable alternatives that respect every personality type, from giving team members an opt-out option to framing icebreakers around work values or collaboration styles. These ideas help create an environment that’s inclusive and thoughtful right from the start. Hey folks! We're publishing several times a week on our blog, Same Page. We're committed to at least one reaction post per week. This week, it's Brett Harned's hot take on this Harvard Business Review about "revolutionary" hybrid working models. Check it out and subscribe to the blog!

Back in 2012, I started working in a hybrid environment, juggling in-person meetings with remote collaboration across offices. It was a time of experimentation, finding ways to keep teams connected, whether down the hall or across the country. I learned many lessons during that time about the value of flexibility, trust, and giving people the space to do their best work. It’s fascinating (and frustrating) that in 2024, we’re still debating the merits of hybrid work, with so many companies pulling people back into the office as if flexibility somehow stifles productivity. I get it—leaders want the best from their teams, but forcing people into an office for the sake of RTO? It doesn’t feel like the answer. I have friends in other industries who must show up to empty offices just to check a box. What’s the point? Instead, let’s lead with empathy. Let’s give people the tools and guidance they need to collaborate and communicate from anywhere, and the results will follow. Happy, empowered teams don’t need to be micromanaged; they need to be trusted. Flexibility isn’t just a perk—it’s a path to better outcomes for everyone. Revolutionary! So anyway, I saw this article on HBR and rolled my eyes hard enough to write a reaction to it. Check it out: https://lnkd.in/eKyYZaBc
Why hybrid work isn’t revolutionary—it’s just common sense
