I am honored to announce my candidacy for Elected Director of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) representing the SAME Honolulu Post. This role is an opportunity to build on my contributions at both the local and national levels while advancing initiatives aligned with SAME’s mission. Expanding STEM Outreach: As a co-leader of the SAME Honolulu Post’s STEM Camp on the North Shore of Oahu, I’ve seen the transformative impact of inspiring the next generation of engineers and leaders. I’m committed to growing programs like these across the Society. ? Supporting the Pacific Pivot: From my base in Hawaii, I work at the intersection of coastal engineering and national security. As co-chair of the Pacific Industry Forum, we bring together government, industry, and community stakeholders to tackle challenges unique to the Pacific region. As this region grows in strategic importance for national security, I aim to support SAME’s resources and partnerships to address the critical?infrastructure and preparedness priorities. ? Empowering Future Leaders: As a proud graduate of the 2025 SAME Leadership Development Program, I have learned that leadership is about serving today while preparing for tomorrow. I am passionate about mentorship and creating teams that inspire others to step into leadership roles, ensuring SAME’s mission continues to thrive. This week, SAME Honolulu Post hosted our 2025 Engineers Week Kick-Off Luncheon along with the Hawaii Council Of Engineering Societies at the Hale Koa Hotel's Waikiki Ballroom Showroom with over 100 attendees. We were honored to have Dr. Brennon Morioka, Dean, University of Hawaii - College of Engineering give a keynote presentation on UH College of Engineering – Where We Are and What’s Next. Honolulu Post president CAPT Stephen Padhi presented Dr. Morioka with a Honolulu Post surfboard plaque for generously giving us his time.

SAME Honolulu Post hosted our inaugural SAME STEM Camp in Hawaii this past weekend, right in time for Engineers Week. We are thankful for our amazing 28-person volunteer team! After seven months of planning, their dedication and passion truly shone as they took care of our high school campers. This weekend was all about mentorship, enhancing the STEM pipeline, creating friendships, and learning about STEM careers. Special thanks to camp co-directors Alyssa Agustin, PMP and Samantha Long, PMP! We were honored to welcome the SAME Pacific Regional Vice President Joshua Biggers, PE, PMP, LEED AP, MBA, who shared his career journey with the students. Thank you Josh for driving to and from camp each day delivering hot meals for us to help reduce the workload for our cooks. We were also inspired by NAVFAC Pacific LT Maggie Martins’ presentation about her career journey and the incredible curriculum she prepared for the campers including orienteering through the woods! We had an impactful presentation from CAPT (ret.) Alexander (Al) Hutchison, P.E., F.SAME who helped us understand how we can pursue the things we love in STEM and what types of majors are out there. What an incredibly rewarding week at the inaugural SAME STEM Camp in Hawaii, hosted by the SAME Honolulu Post! I am beyond proud of our amazing 28-person volunteer team. After seven months of planning, their dedication and passion truly shone as they took care of our high school campers! This weekend was all about mentorship, enhancing the STEM pipeline, creating friendships, learning about STEM careers, and applying the leadership skills we are learning in the SAME Leadership Development Program, alongside my co-camp director and classmate Samantha Long, PMP. A special thank you to my colleague Rachael Han, EIT at Sea Engineering, Inc. who spent her holiday weekend serving as a mentor for one of our squads. We were honored to welcome the SAME Pacific Regional Vice President Joshua Biggers, PE, PMP, LEED AP, MBA, who shared his career journey with the students. Had the best time at the 1st SAME Honolulu Post Hawaii STEM Camp…so much fun! I was so impressed with these high schoolers…their parents would be so proud!
