Detroit District Event Notice! USACE Detroit District Business Open House - MARCH 13 2025 https://lnkd.in/gPyJmHuN From SAM.gov Great Lakes Stakeholders,? You are cordially invited to attend the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District, Business Opportunity Open House event on Thursday, March 13, at the Patrick V. McNamara Federal Building, located at 477 Michigan Ave. in downtown Detroit. Attendees will meet staff from various Corps of Engineers district organizations and discuss current and potential projects with staff. The Open House will take place 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on the 11th floor, Conference Room 1180. Stop by anytime. Please be aware that security into the Federal Building can be time-consuming, please plan accordingly. You will have to pass through a metal detector at the public entrance. On January 15, the SAME Detroit Post installed their newly elected officers. Congratulations to President Donald D. Carpenter, Ph.D, P.E., LEED AP, Vice President Andrew Lorenz, PE, Secretary Angelique Bartreau, Treasurer Tricia Muxlow, and Membership Chair Greg Schell, P.E., CPESC on their elections. In addition, Doug McDowell, Brett Schwenke, Duncan R. Mein, PE, and Amy Conover were elected to the Board of Directors. They join Troy Naperala, Gail Carr, Tom Kaugher, and Peggy Straub who are continuing their two year-team. Finally, outgoing president Greg Mausolf was recognized by Regional Vice President Alex McMasters for his distinguished service as President of the Post. As Past President, Greg will remain on the Board to provide guidance to the incoming officers. The Officers and Board are looking forward to an outstanding 2025 and we hope to see you at our future events!

Annually, the Detroit Post recognizes distinguished engineering or science students by awarding two undergraduate scholarships – one for ROTC members and one for the at-large student body (i.e., Civilian).?The Detroit Post is now soliciting nominations for this award in the amount of $2,000. To be considered for this award, the following must be submitted by 31 March: - A completed nomination form (ROTC attached). - A college transcript with cumulative credits and grade point average. - A letter of recommendation from a SAME Detroit Post member or college advisor - A written submission by the applicant describing scholastic and short term and long-term career goals. - Proof of U.S. citizenship. The student that receives the scholarship will also receive a national SAME student membership through the Detroit Post SAME. Other financial aid held by the individual recipient will not exclude eligibility.?Please circulate this information to eligible students and encourage them to apply by the 31 March deadline.

Yesterday, the Detroit SAME Post hosted Joe Quinnan of Arcadis, who gave a wonderful presentation on cost effective and sustainable treatment alternatives for PFAS impacted soil.
