MEXpreneurs Investor Spotlight with Martha Lopez from Zentynel Frontier Investments! Zentynel is a VC investing in Biotech startups across the Americas. It was born from the collaboration between Fundación Ciencia & Vida and Venturance Alternative Assets. The Zentynel Fund, with over US$250M in managed assets, is led by five partners based in the USA and Chile with extensive entrepreneurial and financial expertise in biotech: Pablo Valenzuela, Bernardita Mendez, Cristian Hernandez-Cuevas, Pablo Fernandez, and Roberto Loehnert. Its portfolio includes fast-growing biotech startups like microTERRA, Samay, and Autem Therapeutics. Pablo Valenzuela and Bernardita Mendez founded in 1982 Chiron Corporation, one of the industry’s early pioneers in genetic engineering. In 2005, Chiron Corporation was acquired by Novartis for US$8.9 billion. This led them to later create Fundación Ciencia & Vida. Martha is Operational Partner at Zentynel in Mexico. She has extensive investing experience in startups related with health, software, foodtech, insurtech, and medical devices. She is also a member of the VC Committee at the Mexican Association of PE & VC Funds (AMEXCAP).
