Design and Strategy for Movement Building
关于我们
Samara Collective is a democratically run, worker-owned strategic communications agency founded in 2018. We have a demonstrated passion for equity-based work with our clients ranging from local level campaigns to state-wide unions to national non-profits. Samara Collective leverages community insights, narrative strategy, design, and integrated communications across web, email, social, press and advertising. Rooted in love and liberation, we build communications strategies and practices to shape an equitable collective future. Our member-owners live across all time zones in the U.S. and draw upon past roles to inform our work including climate justice, anti-racism, education, and organized labor with values-aligned organizations. We believe in distributing skills to move passive supporters to galvanized movement makers. Together, we can pump the brakes on dystopia. Let’s co-create a sustainable world that we and future generations deserve.

???Join Us for the Climate Adaptation Forum! New regulations and grant programs are increasingly requiring project teams to meaningfully engage with the people who will be most affected by their proposals, particularly when projects take place in environmental justice communities. What does meaningful community engagement look like, and how does it affect project outcomes? This Climate Adaptation Forum will help new and long-term practitioners alike understand what skills and practices are involved and what benefits are possible when project teams and community members partner to identify both problems and viable solutions to climate challenges. ???Register today to be a part of the conversation:?https://lnkd.in/eNYDubju

Great read by Boston Globe Media ?? Climate change is causing intense summer heat, yet our community lacks accessible swimming areas where residents can cool off. We commend New York for its investment and forward-thinking approach to such essential amenities! We are committed to making the Charles River safe for swimming, but this effort highlights a broader environmental justice issue: equitable access to recreational spaces: https://lnkd.in/entPg3VK

??Meet Arianne (she/her). Arianne Graham is a dynamic and preternaturally curious leader with a relentless passion for understanding entrenched challenges and driving impact through business and technology. With a 20-year career mostly spanning the healthcare sector, Arianne was compelled to solve one of the biggest challenges she saw when she co-founded Samara in 2018: how to build a democratically-run company that could drive social impact *and* be financially sustainable. Of the many accomplishments in her professional life, Arianne is most proud of helping create a space where people can do work they love, be empowered owners, and make a living wage. Why Samara? - Though she doesn't spend much time with our amazing client partners these days, Arianne serves on Samara's board of directors, advising the team on strategic direction and holding them accountable to their ambitious goals for the co-op. Given the nature of our work, it's a joy to point to a successful campaign, a winning digital presence, or a compelling design and say, "Samara helped make that happen!" The outputs of our work can be very tangible when brought to life by the mission of our client partners. Everyday Impact - While the team is on the front lines working their magic for clients, Arianne loves focusing on the horizon and laying a foundation for great governance, to ensure Samara Collective will be here for the long-haul and will build a community of advocates and experts all along the way.

So many organizations are doing such good and important work but have difficulty getting engagement and growing their audiences. It's not because their work is undeserving, but it's often because their resources are so stretched that when it comes to communications work, it often falls to an overworked staff member, a volunteer, or an unpaid intern. At Samara Collective, we have created a solution to this that we are calling "Office Hours." It includes virtual group trainings, one-on-one support, and actual implementation like asset and web design, setting up ad accounts, and social media. Here's a case study from our work with the Barr Foundation. If you find yourself overwhelmed and looking for support, reach out and let's talk about how Samara Collective can assist you in amplifying the work that you do!
We are excited to share our latest case study from our work with the Barr Foundation to strengthen the communications capacity of climate resilience organizations in Massachusetts. ?? Through on-demand Office Hours, we provide one-on-one consulting, paired with tailored group training, to help these organizations amplify their impact and presence. Our team at Samara Collective brings years of expertise in progressive movements to this project, offering services in content creation, graphic design, web development, and more. Communication is key to social transformation, and we’re here to support movement makers with expert insights and strategies.
