Caltrans District 8 keeping innovation alive and well! Anyone that’s built a Caltrans bridge knows how time consuming and heavy duty the approach slabs are. In an effort to minimize regional traffic impacts on future approach slab replacements, we’re undertaking a innovation effort to build them in precast. The goal is to come up with a system where we remove and replace an approach slab in a 24 hour closure… and we’re well under way to achieving it. ??
