Thanks to the visionary support of the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, our STEAM programs in Northeastern Pennsylvania are reaching more students than ever! ?? After supporting three of our after-school programs last year, the McGowan Fund increased its commitment in 2024-2025, expanding our reach to three after-school sites and two summer programs, impacting over 1,000 students. William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, we are grateful for your partnership in bringing academic STEAM education to Pennsylvania! ?? About the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund: The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund has, since its inception, maintained a vision to impact lives, to create sustainable change, and to empower future generations to achieve their greatest potential. The Fund brings that vision to life through grant-making efforts in three program areas: Education, Human Services, and Healthcare. They prioritize programs that have demonstrated success, have measurable outcomes, plans for sustainability, and aim to end cycles of poverty and suffering. Resolute in the belief in the power of partnerships or collaborative efforts to maximize impact, the Fund embraces opportunities to work with other partners across their key program areas, looking for funding opportunities that share their philosophy and exploring the possibility of joint projects with other nonprofit organizations. The Fund is managed in accordance with values deeply held by its benefactor, William G. McGowan. Among these are ethical leadership and the belief that every life has equal value. The Salvadori Center ~ bringing math, science, and the arts to life!
关于我们
All too often we hear students ask, “Why do I need to know this?” They question the relevance of math and science to their lives and their futures. Salvadori’s innovative Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) based programs give students the tools they need to answer this question for themselves. The Salvadori Center shows students the relevance of math and science using the buildings, bridges, landmarks, and parks in their local communities. Through collaborative, hands-on, project-based learning, and a scientific method of discovery, students see the math and science within the classrooms they enter, the bridges they cross, the parks they play in, and the buildings they see every day.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, we're highlighting Thalia Navedo, Project Accountant at Shawmut Design and Construction. ?? Born and raised in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents, Thalia’s career journey goes from Criminal Justice studies to Forensic Finance. With her variety of experiences in different industries, she started as a Financial Project Administrator at Shawmut in 2018. Thalia’s work ethic, resilience, and adaptability led her to being promoted to Project Accountant in September 2024. Thalia now manages a $200M portfolio, overseeing projects from inception to completion. ?? Aside from her role at Shawmut, Thalia has generously volunteered for several of Salvadori’s programs, including career days - sharing her knowledge and experiences with students, and our Annual Student Design Charrette, working with students to complete a design challenge. After leaving a classroom of predominately Spanish-speaking students in the Bronx, students were inspired by Thalia’s story and marveled over seeing someone that looked and sounded like them. ?? She also volunteers for other organizations including Summer Search, another student-focused organization. Her passion for giving back continues to make an impact on the community. ?? Thalia’s academic achievements are also impressive. While attending University at Albany, she earned over 10 awards and scholarships, and volunteered for influential political campaigns. Her commitment to service is inspiring. Thank you, Thalia, for your dedication and for being a great example of Hispanic excellence and a wonderful mentor to Salvadori students! ???? #HispanicHeritageMonth #HispanicExcellence
