The Primero Global Meeting 2024 has wrapped up in Nairobi, Kenya. We had over 100 participants, from all over the world, and representing many different organizations such UNICEF (the organizer), many national governments, World Bank, International Medical Corps, Terre des hommes, and many others. It was the 10th year anniversary of the rollout of Primero! As one of the primary developers of Primero, it was amazing to see what this platform has meant to children and others throughout the world. I'm really proud to be a small part of this project. Congratulations to Robert MacTavish, Jan Panchalingam, MPH, and the entire UNICEF team for organizing the meeting and all the hard work to make Primero such a success.

It is so inspiring to see what the SWIMS team and Kingsley Owusu have accomplished. Thank you for what you have done and hope the next 10 years will help even more children and women.

I'm excited to be part of the 10 anniversary Primero Global Meeting in Kenya. Users from all over the world will participate to help set the direction for the next 10 years of this digital public good.

From 12-15 November, Jean Pierre LeJacq and Pavel Nabutovsky will join UNICEF and many of our other longtime partners and collaborators at the Primero Global Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya. The Primero Global Meeting is an annual opportunity for platform stakeholders to shape the future of the platform while building community and capacity. This year, participants are also celebrating 10 years of Primero! Pavel and Jean Pierre will appear as panelists in several sessions throughout the week, contributing to discussions ranging from the Primero development roadmap to leveling up support services, and from adapting processes and features to better support specific user bases, to synthesizing this year’s insights into learning and growth for 2025 and beyond. We’ll also have the chance to do some product demonstration, and we’re excited to share about our work in the United States and the features that those US-based collaborations have inspired. This meeting gives us a chance to interact with our implementation partners and other international NGOs, hear experiences from the field, and ask and answer important questions about Primero’s future. Primero is the open-source project at the core of Salus, and our involvement with the Primero community, a vibrant, global community that we’ve helped lead since 2014, is extraordinarily fulfilling. We value every opportunity to gather with so many other people who are committed to improving the delivery of health and human services globally. Happy 10 Years, Primero! We are pleased to announce our support of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) as a Bronze Partner. CMSA has over 30 years of experience in connecting with case managers and shares our belief that collaborative practices lead to better outcomes. We have previously participated in CMSA conferences, including the 2024 National Conference, and in their International Special Interest Group, which provides support related to the global case management landscape. Our involvement with CMSA allows us to interface with a broad range of professionals engaged in health and human services case management, and has also inspired our recent push to launch a version of our platform specifically targeted to Independent Practitioners. We are excited to support CMSA and its members in this new way, and look forward to continued opportunities to connect with the case management community.

IRC Selects Salus as Development Partner Salus is partnering with the International Rescue Committee (IRC) to develop a new case management module for Primero - the open-source application that powers the Salus platform. This initiative is in collaboration with the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) and Danish Refugee Council (DRC), with funding support from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). The new module will leverage the adaptable workflows and built-in data protections of the platform to support the Protection Case Management (PCM) methodology. IRC and its partners are increasingly adopting this methodology in humanitarian responses to complement existing programs that are focused on providing case management for children and survivors of gender-based violence. PCM provides case management for individuals affected by conflict and humanitarian crises who do not qualify for child protection of GBV case management – connecting beneficiaries with essential services and referring them to other protection programs offered by humanitarian partners as needed. ... Megan O’Brien, IRC technical lead, explained “Our programs face increasing demands to assist displaced persons through protection programming and the new PCM capabilities will help us close the gaps in the delivery of case management in humanitarian contexts”.
