Improving lives through people, parks and play.

关于我们

Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation was created as a result of civic-minded individuals who wanted to coordinate recreation activities throughout the County, build more park space, enhance trails infrastructure, and manage the rapid growth of recreation programs for the benefit of county residents. As a result, Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation was formed on May 11, 1946. Ten days later, the organization dedicated its first park, Evergreen Park, located in Millcreek City. Over the past 75 years, the division has grown in size and scope, now managing and maintaining 103 parks, 6 golf courses, over 20 recreation facilities, as well as trails and open space — staying true to our mission of "Improving lives through people, parks and play."

??Last week, Owen Kirby, Aquatics Manager at Holladay Lions Recreation Center, part of Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation, was honored with a Public Service Award from the Utah Department of Corrections for his life-saving actions. In October 2023, while off duty at a martial arts class, Kirby responded heroically when an off-duty AP&P agent suffered a massive heart attack. He administered CPR for eight minutes until EMTs arrived, with the help of a classmate who kept compression counts. ??Kirby credits his “two-star” @starguardelite lifeguard training for preparing him for this critical moment. This advanced certification signifies exceptional skill in complex rescue techniques and leadership in aquatic safety. We’re incredibly proud of Kirby and extend our gratitude to all of our lifeguards for their exceptional training, dedication, and life-saving expertise. Thank you for keeping our community safe! #PeopleParksPlay #SLCo #StarGuard #lifeguard

  • Congratulations to Pat Riley from Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation on his retirement after nearly 50 years of service, 44 as a merit and 5 as a temp! Pat followed in his father Mick’s (Mick Riley Golf Course) footsteps, dedicating his entire career to Meadow Brook Golf Course in Taylorsville, where he served as assistant golf pro and tournament coordinator. Thank you, Pat, for your incredible commitment to making golf accessible to everyone. Enjoy your well-earned retirement! #PeopleParksPlay #slco #Golfing #Meadowbrook
