Dojo helps individuals from all walks of life quickly learn the skills needed to become top-performing sales reps at high-growth companies in just a matter of weeks. Our training programs do not require any prior experience and are extremely affordable. (Scholarships are also available.) After completing the program, graduates from the Dojo SDR program are equipped with the essential skills needed to immediately make an impact for the companies that hire them. We work with our graduates to help place them at partner companies in high-demand industries where there is significant growth-potential financially and personally. Sales roles within companies are often among the highest-paying and most lucrative. Even entry-level sales positions often pay 30-40% more than general admin or operation roles, which unlike sales roles typically don't have any upside potential through earning commissions. Receiving performance-based sales bonuses and commissions is not only financially rewarding, but also provides a thrilling sense of accomplishment as a sales rep.     From SDR to Rev Ops Manager!!! Kalvin Richan is the king! ?? (Yes -- You can call him King Kalvin if you'd like!) I was introduced to Kalvin over two years ago when he was going through the Sales Dojo SDR training program. Jaron A. Erickson kept telling me about Kalvin and how brilliant he was. At the time, Forecastr was looking to hire our first Sales Development Rep (SDR). Kalvin interviewed with our Sales Director, Mitch Pangallo, and then with the two Co-Founders, Steven Plappert and Logan Burchett. He stood out and was an obvious choice as a fit for our team! Kalvin has an innate entrepreneurial spirit and had previously run his own business. He is curious, loves learning and thrives on solving problems for colleagues and customers. For these reasons, he ended up volunteering for various opportunities and kept getting pulled in to help out on a lot of different projects at Forecastr. As a scrappy startup, everyone has to jump in and help wherever they can add value. And, Kalvin had a lot of ways he could add value. It quickly became apparent that Kalvin was not your typical SDR. He was diving into creating sales processes, researching various frameworks and suggesting ways we could do things more efficiently as a growth team. This wouldn't have worked in many organizations where managers or execs might feel threatened. But in a fast-growing startup, there is no room for ego, and shoutout to our awesome Director of Sales who embraced and channeled Kalvin's natural talents. Kalvin ended up building out processes and playbooks internally that outlined his role as an SDR so someone else could step in and fill the role. Simultaneously, he was studying the "Jobs To Be Done" framework and presented this to the company as a way to look at our product offerings. When we ran into issues with our outbound lead gen processes, Kalvin jumped in and became an email marketing expert. Diving in and studying how other organizations addressed similar challenges and then coming back with potential solutions. On top of all of this, Kalvin always wanted to join me for our Founders N' Funders events in Utah. Early on when Kalvin was fairly new at Forecastr, I asked if he would be willing to share a 30-second pitch about Forecastr at one of these events. This was way out of his comfort zone and I knew he was nervous ---- But he did it!!! Yet another growth opportunity he embraced, and now after several more opportunities he is a pro at getting on stage and talking about Forecastr. ?? To top that ..... I had the opportunity to do a Forecastr ski day at Park City with Kalvin and Brock Burton. We got to the top of the McConkey chairlift where Kalvin carefully peaked over the edge of McConkey's Bowl (one of the steepest runs in Utah) and nervously asked me, "Do you ski down stuff like this?" Two runs later -- Kalvin conquered McConkey's! ?? Well, Kalvin was recently promoted to Rev Ops Manager at Forecastr. Not a surprise! #KingKalvin ??

    Had a call yesterday with a friend from high school who is looking to transition to Tech Sales from Commercial Real Estate. After 8 years working a job he hated, he took a month off, shipped it to South America and became a certified yoga instructor. He asked about what I've learned and here's some of what I shared: - Tech sales is a blessing. Yes it has it's challenges like any career, but if you look around, it's hard to not be wildly fortunate to work in this industry. - The people that succeed in this space are willing to fail every day. They lean into discomfort, own a growth mindset, and never are above learning. - The traditional growth path might not be for you and there is nothing wrong with that. - Genuine curiosity will take you further than you thought. Most just don't speak up and their curiosity stays in their mind. Share it. - Most of the people that I've met who kill it in this game are introverted. Opposite of what I thought about sales. - Try before you're ready. Fastest way to learn is by doing. Do it live. - Learn to see your job as a job. Do a great job and then be done. There is always going to be more to do. If you don't learn to shut it off, you will miss out on what matters most, even if it's mentally missing out. - Enjoy the ride. It's your story. Don't let social pressure or social media dictate your next move. What's right for someone else may be totally wrong for you. - It's easy to get lost in the rat race. Have a few accountability buddies to hold you accountable to your own boundaries when it comes to work/life. I didn't share tactical skills, tips and tricks, or cold emails that convert. All good things to know. I shared what I felt I was missing earlier in my career.. a daily reminder that you simply aren't your job. ??

    Final day of Sales Dojo training! It’s been an amazing month I’ve really learned so much. Cold calling, objection framework, time management, case open construction, and components of tone, to name a few. James Amezcua has been such a great mentor and resource throughout this course and a special thanks to Jaron A. Erickson for making this possible ?? Looking forward to some interviews and kicking off my career as a killer SDR!
