The Salem Red Sox are a Minor League Baseball team in Salem, Virginia. We are a member of the Class A-Advanced Carolina League and a farm team for the Boston Red Sox. The Salem Red Sox play home games at Carilion Clinic Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark. The Salem Red Sox are proud to have helped develop eight members of the 2018 World Series Championship team including reigning American League MVP Mookie Betts. Betts led Salem to our most recent Carolina League title in 2013. While the current ownership dates back to 2009, the organization's history is much more robust. In 2017 Salem played its 50th season in the Carolina League, but the professional baseball history dates all the way back to 1939. Salem alumni include Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda, National League MVP Dave Parker and two members of the Chicago Cubs curse breaking 2016 team, Anthony Rizzo and Ben Zobrist. Despite all that history, the Salem Red Sox and Haley Toyota Field are so much more than a minor league baseball team. We also host the Roanoke College Maroons baseball program, the Virginia High School League state tournament as well as numerous other showcase events. Apart from baseball the ballpark also hosts multiple movie nights, two beer festivals, a fall festival, a community yard sale and many other community events. The Salem Red Sox are an integral part of the Roanoke Valley. Each year the ballpark hosts upwards of a quarter million visitors. Red Sox players, staff and our lovable mascot Mugsy participate in countless hospital and school visits as well as other community events. The Red Sox are operated by Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH).

#WelcomeWednesday Meet Marissa our new Account Executive! Marissa grew up in Southwest Ohio, and she’s excited to begin her career in Salem! During her time in Southwest, Ohio she was able to take part in a variety of experiences including internships with the Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Open, and the Florence Y’alls. She looks forward to bringing her variety of backgrounds to Salem to create fun and exciting experiences at the ballpark this season! In her free time, she enjoys visiting coffee shops, trying new foods, and attending sporting events!

#WelcomeWednesday Meet Will and Austin Will Howell is returning as our video production manager after being the video production assistant for the past two years. This is his fourth year with the Red Sox after working two seasons on the production crew. He just finished his junior year at Virginia Tech and is majoring in Communications. Will has a huge passion for video production and is looking forward to further strengthening this passion here at the Red Sox. In his free time, Will likes to watch movies and play basketball. Austin is our assistant of grounds operations and was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He graduated from Virginia Tech with an associate degree in sports turf management. Austin has worked for the Washington Commanders through all three name changes. He also worked for the Baltimore Orioles, Tennessee Smokies (AA for Chicago Cubs), and the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (AAA for the Miami Marlins). Austin moved to Roanoke with his girlfriend Melanie and two kids Fletcher, and Colette. When Austin is not at the ballpark he enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music, or gaming with friends.
