We were thrilled to welcome the Greater Heights Area Chamber of Commerce to our new Area Command building for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony! Chamber members gathered to celebrate this exciting milestone, marking a new chapter in our mission to serve the community. Major Webb was present to share the rich history of The Salvation Army and highlight the organization’s ongoing impact in the Greater Houston area. The event was filled with excitement, concluding with a confetti shower and a guided tour of the new facility. We are grateful for the support of the Heights Chamber and look forward to continuing our work in the community from our new home!

Cody & Amanda Johns and members of the Conroe & Montgomery Advisory Council attended the premiere of No Address, a film shedding light on the realities of homelessness. Before the screening, we heard powerful testimonies from individuals who found solace at the Wayne Bergstrom Center of Hope in Conroe. Their stories reminded us of the challenges many face and the life-changing impact provided by our incredible team at this facility. "You can be one paycheck away from homelessness". On February 6th, The Salvation Army of Greater Houston celebrated the completion of their new Area Command Building located in the Near Northside Community of Houston, Texas. The morning began with a beautiful program dedicating the new building to God and His glory, followed by a ribbon cutting featuring Vicki West, Advisory Board Chair, Tom Forney, Immediate Past Chair of the Advisory Board, Maureen Higdon, Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary President, Lt. Colonels Art & Ann Penhale, Salvation Army Texas Divisional Leaders and Majors Rob & Carolynn Webb, Salvation Army of Greater Houston Area Commanders. The community was then invited in to tour the beautiful new faciality and enjoy food and fellowship together. ? This future focused project took five years from conception to completion. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to the Salvation Army of Greater Houston Advisory Board and Women’s Auxiliary for all their incredible work to bring this project to a reality. Last week, #JimmyCarter was celebrated for his life of personal humility and public service in both a public facing funeral at Washington National Cathedral and an intimate ceremony is his Georgia hometown of Plains. The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services was honored to provide meal and snack support for the myriads of Secret Service, EMS, Police, Fire, and Georgia State Security officials on site in Plains. Salvation Army EDS teams also provided meals for retired members of President Carter’s staff and their families as well as for the motorcade that eventually carried his body to Atlanta.

This past Saturday, youth from all of The Salvation Army Youth Centers gathered at the Houston International Corps for a special preparation workshop! They worked hard on perfecting their speeches, while also learning valuable meal etiquette. We’re incredibly proud of the dedication and effort our students have shown as they gear up for the competition. Your hard work is inspiring and huge thank you to our amazing ambassadors for your unwavering support and commitment to these young leaders, your guidance is making a lasting impact. The Salvation Army has deployed EDS teams to serve meals and offer spiritual and emotional care at American Red Cross operated evacuation shelters across Southern California. After this morning’s horrific tragedy in New Orleans, The Salvation Army is honored to provide support to first responders. Our thoughts and prayers are with the survivors and loved ones of those affected.

This year’s Salvation Army Angel Tree Distribution was truly special. We had the privilege of not only distributing gifts to the families but also serving senior citizens, many of whom shared heartfelt stories and gratitude that moved us to happy tears. It was also inspiring to see East West Bank associates from various teams come together, creating a strong sense of unity. A beautiful reminder of the power of giving back and serving the communities!
