Providing systems of support to individuals with complex disabilities and their families
关于我们
St. Joseph Home provides a home and systems of support for people with complex disabilities and their families. We provide the highest quality medical and personal care to support meaningful, dignified lives through residential, respite and day programs. The Home, a non-profit ministry of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, is the only agency in Hamilton County serving medically fragile children and adults who are non-ambulatory and non-verbal, ranging in age from infants to their 60’s, including those who require ventilators. Though St. Joseph Home has a strong bond and affiliation with the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, we welcome families of all faiths. More than 220 caring people work here in nursing, direct care, active treatment, physical and occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, nutrition and psychological services. St. Joseph Home welcomes volunteers with a variety of opportunities to best fit your skill set and comfort level. You can volunteer with us as an individual or as a corporate, school, religious or civic group. St. Joseph Home appreciates donations which help us raise the standard of care and support. Donations fund our services one day out of every five, or 73 days a year.

St. Joseph Home would like to congratulate our Registered Dietician, Sarah Vermilyea for being selected as a 2025 Outstanding Dietetics Preceptor and a recipient of the College of Allied Health Sciences and Warren Bennis Leadership Institute Award! This award is designed to offer rigorous, evidence-based leadership training to the University of Cincinnati College of Allied Health Sciences Clinical Instructors. The College of Allied Health Sciences has partnered with the Warren Bennis Leadership Institute within the UC Lindner College of Business at UC to offer this unique opportunity for outstanding clinical instructors. "This is my second year precepting a UC intern for a 6-week Clinical Specialty Rotation here at St Joseph Home. The clinical interns delve into the many complex medical diagnoses of the residents and learn how these impact nutritional status, as well as how nutritional interventions impact the health and wellness of each resident. "I enjoy precepting the interns; they bring wonderful questions and enthusiasm to St Joseph Home. In order to teach effectively, I need to be up to date on current practices and have access to timely resources, which also helps to assure best care of the residents. I appreciate St Joseph Home for the support in hosting these interns!" Way to go, Sarah!

The dichotomy of life hits hard some times. I celebrated this Christmas with the most treasured of gifts, my family. Later that same day, I learned that I lost a cherished gift; a friend who cannot be replaced. Terry was the first friend I made at the St. Joseph Home a dozen years ago. A profound connection… kindred spirits… birds of a feather. We bonded over music and much time spent together. My family also spent time with him and they all loved him. We went to Red’s games, events. and restaurants, like any good friends would. I learned how to make him smile and he could hug a smile into me no matter the day or week I was having. Terry lived a challenging life. He couldn’t get around on his own or communicate easily, and he needed around the clock care. He could however be a great friend; one who made my life better every time I saw him. Our connection faded some during Covid, and I have been trying to get it back to where it was. I thought I had more time, as we always tend to, no matter how many times life reminds us of our ignorance. I know he is free now, and in a much better place, which is all that really matters. But he will be deeply missed, by me, my family, and everyone at the St. Joseph Home. As with Danny’s passing this summer, Terry’s passing only deepens my commitment to supporting the disability community. I will continue to do whatever I can to honor their memories.
