I am very honored to be awarded a “Eugene Kranz Professorship for Teaching Excellence” and appreciate the support of the School of Science and Engineering and my mentors over the years. I am very fortunate to be able to work with an incredible group of students at SLU every day, and I am looking forward to continuing to serve them and the School of Science and Engineering. #SLUcivilEngineering

Last week, I presented a poster at the Institute of Transportation Engineers Gateway Section conference (GSITE) on my research: Crash Severity in Relation to Vehicle Compatibility in Central Colorado. I was honored to receive 1st place in the GSITE Student Research Poster Competition! Thank you to Dr. Kianfar for supporting and mentoring me throughout my research project. Thank you, Jacob Berry, PE, class of 2015, for visiting the #SLUcivilEngineering transportation engineering classes to discuss your work at Olsson aimed at improving the safety and mobility of the transportation system. In addition to covering a variety of transportation engineering projects, Jacob shared his insights on graduate school and career trajectories post-graduation.

Congratulations to Dr. Mustafa Attallah for successfully presenting his dissertation work on “Novel Framework to Address the Performance Bias in Intelligent Transportation System Applications”. The committee determined that he passed the written dissertation portion of the exam with distinction. Additionally, this past Friday, Mustafa earned third place in the Saint Louis University School of Science and Engineering 3-minute thesis competition. Congratulations, Mustafa!
