????Our team at the Saint Francis Heart and Vascular Institute and Dr. Andrew Hinojos are the first in Oklahoma to implant a new device to benefit certain patients with advanced heart failure. Cardiac contractability modulation, or CCM therapy, is a non-pharmacological treatment designed to improve the heart’s pumping ability. A small device, similar to a pacemaker, is implanted under the skin. This device sends electrical signals to the heart muscle, improving its contractility. Unlike traditional pacemakers, which regulate heart rhythm, CCM therapy specifically targets the strength of heart contractions, making it a unique and effective option for certain heart failure patients. ??World Prematurity Day ?? Today is a day to raise awareness about the challenges and triumphs faced by premature babies and their families. With the area's only designated Level IV neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), Saint Francis Children's Hospital provides the highest level of care to support our smallest patients. Bree is the first recipient of this award from Saint Francis and the state of Oklahoma. Since 2020, the CAPE Award has honored 10 exceptional frontline workers annually, recognizing their dedication to advancing patient care and sanitation. In addition to a $2,500 cash prize and a commemorative plaque, Cintas will donate $2,500 in Bree’s name to the Saint Francis Employee Emergency Fund through the Tulsa Community Foundation. In recognition of Children’s Grief Awareness Day on November 21, Saint Francis Hospice is hosting a special grief support group for children at 6:00 p.m., at Warren Clinic Tower, 6600 S. Yale, 10th floor conference room. This safe, supportive event is designed for children who’ve experienced the loss of a loved one. ??Age-appropriate activities will be provided to help kids process their feelings, and a light meal will be served.
