Frances Adelusi, Chaplain in Spiritual Care Chaplain Frances was nominated for going above and beyond to help a patient in their final days. After receiving a request to visit a patient who had been put on comfort measures, Chaplain Frances took the time to listen and understand the patient’s need to connect with their son one more time. After multiple attempts to connect with various family members, Chaplain Frances persevered and arranged a FaceTime call with the patient and their son who was able to arrange a ride to the hospital to be with the patient during their final breath. Chaplain Frances embodies the mission and vision of spiritual care that ‘No One Dies Alone.’ She understood the patient’s desire to see their son before passing—and she never gave up. Please join us in congratulating our recent DAISY Award winner Clarisse Villarama, nominated for using her clinical expertise and critical thinking to improve a patient's outcome. Clarisse was caring for a patient admitted for vomiting, weakness and high blood pressure. During her shift, Clarisse noticed something wasn't quite right with the patient and quickly activated a Code Stroke. The patient was diagnosed with an acute brain hemorrhage and was able to receive the treatment they needed in time. "Clarisse demonstrated living our culture and I am honored to nominated her for the DAISY Award," her nominator said.
