Do ‘historical firsts’ still matter in elections? How is the Republican party in Minnesota engaging with voters of color? What issues are driving Minnesotans of color to vote? We addressed all these questions and more at our recent community conversation about elections with political pros. Couldn’t make it to the conversation? Now you can see it on TV. If you’re in St. Paul, you can watch the conversation Monday to Thursday at 7 p.m. on SPNN (Saint Paul Neighborhood Network)’s channel 19 in St. Paul. https://lnkd.in/g2qr3w-Y

??? Event alert: The 2024 election season feels like a roller coaster ride — and it’s still August. There’s a lot happening in politics right now and we want to unpack what it means for communities of color in Minnesota. On August 15 at 6 p.m., Sahan reporters Joey Peters and Katelyn Vue will moderate a community conversation exploring what’s at stake for Minnesotans in November. For this Sahan Community Live event, we wanted to concentrate not on WHO people are voting for, and rather WHAT people are voting for — that is, how their vote this year reflects their values. In this conversation, we’ll explore what’s drawing communities of color to participate in the election and what they hope to see. Learn more and register for this free event happening at the Wellstone Center in St. Paul. Can’t make it in person? Watch the livestream on Sahan Journal’s YouTube page. Panelists include Abou B. Amara, Jr., AK Kamara, Azrin A., Michael Minta and Michelle Witte.?
