Regardless of our age, we have the right to be offered an HIV test, receive information about the latest prevention tools, and access comprehensive sexual health services. A recent report reveals that people over 50 who are newly diagnosed with HIV are more likely to have advanced disease. Specifically, 36% of this age group had AIDS at the time of their HIV diagnosis. Among the 2,123 new HIV diagnoses, 18% were in older individuals, compared to 17% in younger people. Stay tuned for opportunities to advocate for improved HIV prevention services for older adults on our social channels. SAGE and other civil rights groups submitted a friend-of-the court brief in support of transgender youth and their families, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky, the National Center for Lesbian Rights, GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders, and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. ? The Supreme Court will be hearing U.S. v. Skrmetti, a case challenging Tennessee’s law banning medical care for transgender youth. Any law that prohibits medication for only one group of people is discriminatory. ? Every family should have the freedom to love and support their children, but these bans deny that right to families of transgender youth. That's why we’re proud to stand with Kentucky families who have been challenging a similar law in their state. As we wait for the Supreme Court to hear the case in the next few months and issue its decision next summer, we will continue to support transgender youth, their families, and medical providers.

We know that our community is built on resilience and strength, but this doesn't mean there aren't real and lasting impacts. It's OK to ask for help! 39% of LGBTQ+ elders have experienced suicidal ideation during their lifetime, and 31% of LGBTQ+ elders have symptoms of depression. This is two to three times higher than the general older adult population in the Unites States. But we don't have to be another statistic. We can help each other. Remember, you are not alone! SAGE collaborates with HearMe, a free, 24/7 on-demand mental wellness app that allows you to text one-on-one with trained empathetic listeners to get things off your chest, feel seen, heard, and validated. ? #NationalSuicidePreventionMonth #WeRefusetoBeInvisible #LGBTQMentalHealth #LGBTQ
