Well, that's a wrap! What a time! The only thing I will say is that NVIDIA continues to advance scientific computing on all fronts. Stay tuned for some exciting announcements. To those that I interacted with this past week, the pleasure was mine! #nvidia #gtc25 #ai4science #hpc

Thank you, NSF NOIRLab, for the opportunity to give a talk at the Gemini Observatory Base Facility in Hilo, Hawaii!
Two weeks ago, I presented at the Gemini Observatory Base Facility in Hilo, Hawaii! My talk was titled "Building a Data Science Platform Based on User Needs." Overall, it went well, and I was happy to hear the participants talk about their experiences testing out CoCalc! It was great reconnecting with folks I met at the 2024 American Astronomical Society Conference in New Orleans, LA. I can't wait to see you all in person again (in Anchorage this June)! Anyway, this week, I'm attending the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) conference on Computational Science and Engineering in Fort Worth, Texas. If you're around, please consider coming by my booth to say hello! #siam #cse25 #math #science #conferences

Self-hosting CoCalc can be an excellent alternative to JupyterHub. https://onprem.cocalc.com/ CoCalc OnPrem provides virtual workspaces (projects) with shared file systems. Collaborators can work together in real time using Linux Terminals, Jupyter Notebooks, and LaTeX Documents. The platform also supports VS Code, RStudio IDE, Pluto, X11 Desktop, Markdown, Course Management, and more. #jupyter #collaboration #datascience #onpremise

We had an excellent time exhibiting at the American Astronomical Society's 245th Meeting in National Harbor last week. Thank you so much for stopping by our booth and all the engagement! The highlight of our week was attending the NSF NOIRLab Open House for the US Extremely Large Telescope Program (US-ELTP). It was fascinating to learn about its initiatives (i.e., providing access to the Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT) and the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) for astronomical research). #nsf #noirlab #cocalc #sagemath #aas245

I'll be exhibiting CoCalc at JMM, and since we are "based" here in Seattle, our CEO/Founder, William Stein, will participate! For those of you who know me personally, I attend many conferences/events, but believe it or not, this will be the first time William will join me in showcasing what he has been working so hard to build! We'll host a formal meet-and-greet in the exhibit hall during the Grand Opening Reception on Wednesday, Jan. 8th, from 6pm-8pm PT. This will include a live demo from the master himself! Don't miss it! Sincerely, -Blaec Bejarano. https://lnkd.in/g8Sfj5C2

Quick Update: CoCalc is exhibiting at NeurIPS this week in Vancouver, Canada! It’s my first time attending! It’s incredible how many people I’ve reconnected with here (and at SuperComputing), having met at other conferences throughout the past few years. Personally, I think it really speaks to the cross-pollination happening within the ML/scientific community. Anyway, I’m showcasing our platform in the exhibit hall right across from Google Research and next to Cambridge University Press & Assessment! Come find me! #cocalc #sagemath #neurips #exhibit

Hey everyone, I made a new video today about efficiently copying files between compute servers using ssh and rsync: https://lnkd.in/g26CxmwJ I'll quickly demonstrate how to: 1. Setup ssh keys using the command "ssh-keygent -t ed25519" and add the public key /home/user/.ssh/id_ed25519.pub in your CoCalc project settings. 2. Use the command "rsync -axvH scratch/ compute-server-n:scratch/" to copy the files from one server to another using rsync. CoCalc by SageMath, Inc. #rsync #ssh #cloudcomputing #cocalc #sagemath
