?? Meet Earl: A Fighter & a FICCUS Study Participant! ?? Earl came to the SAGE Veterinary Centers - Dublin Emergency Room unable to urinate on his own—a serious condition called urethral obstruction that can lead to kidney damage and life-threatening complications. Earl had a history of Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC), a painful and complex condition affecting about 1.5% of pet cats in the U.S. ?? What is FIC? FIC is believed to be an auto-immune disorder that causes bladder inflammation and pain, with multiple contributing factors like environment, nerves, and hormones. If untreated, it can lead to dangerous blockages, just like Earl’s. ?? Thanks to prompt care, we were able to relieve Earl’s blockage, ease his pain, and get him on the road to recovery. Even more exciting—Earl qualified for the Feline Idiopathic Cystitis Sample Collection Study (FICCUS)! ?? What is FICCUS? FICCUS is a bio-banking study focused on uncovering the underlying causes of urethral obstruction in cats. The goal? Better prevention and treatment for future feline patients. Earl was our second patient enrolled at SAGE Dublin! After two days of hospitalization, Earl is now back home and doing well! ?? We’re so grateful to be part of cutting-edge research that helps cats like Earl live healthier, happier lives. ?? If your cat has struggled with urinary issues, talk to your veterinarian about FIC and potential treatment options. Or contact SAGE Dublin by visiting our website: https://lnkd.in/gGhQnqVN Earl's journey is a reminder of how important early intervention is! #SAGEVet #FelineHealth #FICCUSStudy #FelineIdiopathicCystitis #VetMed #CatCare

Happy Valentine’s Day! ???? Today is all about love—especially for our furry companions! We hope your day is filled with extra snuggles and tail wags. Dog Health Tips- Hip Dysplasia The hip joint normally functions as a ball and socket but, in dogs with hip dysplasia (a skeletal disorder), the ball and socket do not fit properly, which results in the joint rubbing and grinding. Since the bones of the joint don't line up correctly, the joint cartilage is subjected to abnormal wear and tear. Over time, this wear and tear can result in pain and arthritis. This disorder is most often hereditary, but can also be caused by traumatic injury. Signs of hip dysplasia can include: ?? Weakness in the hind legs ?? Limping, wobbling ?? Walking with a “bunny-hop” gait ?? Reluctance to rise from a sitting or lying position ?? Lameness, which may be mild, moderate, or severe, and is worse after exercise ?? Loose joint, stiffness of the joint, and a grating sound during full extension and bending of the joint If your dog is exhibiting these signs, please visit our website and find the closest SAGE Veterinary Center to you and give us a call to schedule a consult with your closest surgery department: https://lnkd.in/eyY9smb #doghealth #hipdysplasia #dogs #vetmed #pethealth #SAGECenters
