We're hiring a Laboratory Technician! Do you know someone who loves working in the lab and is happiest with a pipette in their hand? We have a spot to join our team! We always aim to promote from within, so it's a good opportunity to get into the field and advance. But the candidate would have to have solid lab skills. Thanks for sharing!

This has always been what it's about for us. Thank you, Jeff Rawson.
They like to talk about how the cannabis market in Mass has generated $7B in revenue, but do they value the people who spent that money? A couple of weeks ago, I attended a roundtable dedicated to testing with Kimberly Roy, M.S. and the Mass CBA hosted by SafeTiva Labs. About 50 people were there, nearly all from weed businesses. I was the only consumer advocate there, at the generous invitation of David O'Brien and Megan Dobro (thank you!). It makes sense that everyone was from businesses, it was a CBA event and I was fortunate to be there. Still, it emphasized for me an important distinction in the access and attitudes of industry stakeholders. The business owners are viewed as the taxpayers and job creators. They are viewed as the "customers" by politicians who seek to hear and respond to their demands. While I recognize the effort and risk that these business owners have invested, they are not the only stakeholders. Every dollar of that $7B came from the pocket of a consumer. In 2025, I would like to see more attention to the needs of consumers. Not just a few (rich) folks on the Vineyard, and not just medical consumers, but regular self-medicating dirtbags like me. We deserve to be heard.

We were proud to host the MassCBA roundtable discussion about testing changes with Commissioner Kimberly Roy, M.S. We discussed changing action limits, opening the data, eliminating Total Yeast and Mold in favor of species-specific testing, and much more. Then we led tours of our lab and had great conversations about specific testing challenges. It leaves us feeling optimistic that we can make a better industry together through collaboration. It's always great to see friends and make new ones. Thank you all for making the drive! Huge thanks to Bright Ideas Brewing for letting us use their gorgeous space. Thank you to David O'Brien for his fierce leadership and advocacy and Commissioner Kimberly Roy, M.S. for always showing up and listening, even when she's under the weather. ???? Thanks to Chris Faraone and Talking Joints Memo for the excellent reporting, as always. We are feeling optimistic about change coming in the next year, but we can't let up on the gas. We need everyone to be talking about lab shopping, the lack of standardization, and the regulation changes that we need now! Otherwise, there will be no ethical businesses left.
I hope you have been waiting all week to read this article, because that is how long it has taken me to write it. I appreciate everyone who spoke to me - I know it isn't easy to criticize the agency that regulates you. “You can look at the data [obtained via Freedom Of Information Act requests] for dozens of producers to see the same behavior. Even with this data in hand, the commission continues to divert their attention to other ‘perceived’ issues, such that any efforts to solve these problems will be completely mis-directed. The house is on fire, and they want to hose down the barn.”

Big shout out to Megan Dobro from SafeTiva Labs! Not only did she give a great talk on testing, she was handing out fentanyl test strips to anyone who asked. And she managed to look so elegant despite the soggy day. Cheers to you Meg, was so nice to meet you in person.

Our CEO will be speaking at the 35th annual Boston Freedom Rally this Saturday. We hope to see you there!
Somehow, I've never been to the Freedom Rally. So I'm extra excited to check it out and speak about consumer rights when it comes to testing. Everyone deserves access to clean, safe cannabis! Let me know if you'll be there on Saturday and tell me who/what I need to see! Thank you to MassCann for hosting!
