From our own Zach Grimes: As short-term rental hosts & managers, we all know that spring break brings in a surge of bookings—but with it also comes an increase in guest damage claims. Over the past five years, the percentage of damage claims during spring break has steadily climbed, with some hosts seeing a 30% rise in damage-related incidents. Here's a quick breakdown of the increase in damage claims over the last few years: 2021: 15% increase 2022: 20% increase 2023: 25% increase 2024: 30% increase It’s a reminder that spring break, while busy, also presents unique challenges. Higher guest turnover and more rowdy parties can lead to significant damage, ranging from broken furniture, a hole in the wall, or even plumbing issues due to guest negligence.
