The SAFE Bar Network is creating a community of bars, restaurants and nightclubs working to prevent sexual violence.

关于我们

The SAFE Bar Network envisions a “safe night out” for everyone. The SAFE Bar Network works to establish a community of bars, restaurants and nightclubs across the country dedicated to preventing sexual harassment and sexual assault. The SAFE Bar network trains bar, restaurant, and nightclub staff to be active bystanders by; ● noticing concerning behavior, ● interrupting effectively, ● and offering support. Together, through this network, we make prevention of sexual harassment and assault a priority of individual bars, restaurants and nightclubs and a value of entire communities.

Congratulations to Juniper Brewing Company on renewing their membership to The SAFE Bar Network. ???? We are honored by their ongoing commitment to giving everyone a Safe Night Out. Juniper Brewing Company is located in the heart of Downtown Bowling Green. Their space includes an active brewing facility, a cozy coffee shop, and a restaurant serving fresh food in partnership with local vendors. Next time you're in Bowling Green, be sure to stop by for a beer and a good time. ?? The SAFE Bar Network is built on the idea that culture change is possible. We believe that when we engage bar and restaurant staff in conversations about harm, active bystander skills, and supporting each other, that we’ll help to shift workplace cultures and put a renewed emphasis on safety. Bars like Juniper Brewing that commit to retraining their staff annually brings us one step closer to this mission. ?? ?? If you're interested in joining the SAFE Bar Network or helping us to launch in your city, DM or email us at [email protected] to learn how you can join us. #safenightout #safebar #safebarnetwork

  • ?? It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day, one of the biggest party holidays of the year ?? It is no secret that in social settings with alcohol we see people cross boundaries, use alcohol as a tool to excuse their bad behavior or make people uncomfortable, and isolate people from others. There is always something we can do to check in and help out. In every situation, de-escalation is our superpower. The goal of de-escalation is simple, to quickly build rapport and a sense of connection with someone who is agitated. We do this with words, body-language, and by controlling our own emotions to be calm and reassuring. ?? Here are some de-escalation basics ?? ?? Step 1: Listen to the person’s concerns. ?? Step 2: Reflect back and summarize their thoughts to show that you are listening. ?? Step 3: When a person challenges your authority, redirect their attention to the issue at hand. Ignore the challenge, and bring their focus back to how you can work together to solve the problem. ?? Step 4: Offer concise and respectful choices and consequences. Be clear, speak simply, and offer the positive choice first. There are going to be times when you check in and help out and it feels really good. But there are also going to be times when you try to help someone and it’s a bit more complicated. Maybe it doesn’t feel good. Maybe you’re not sure how to feel. Talk to someone about what happened and when the time comes, be ready to pay it forward by offering support to someone else. ??Want more? • Congratulations and welcome to SEVEN new SAFE Bar Network members in the central Arkansas area. Local Lime West Little Rock Big Orange West Little Rock Zaza Heights Heights Taco and tamales Lost Forty Brewing Camp Taco Big Orange Midtown “It’s been really fantastic to learn what to keep an eye out for as far as the safety of the staff and our guests, especially in a place where we serve alcohol” says Clayton Smith, midwest district manager for Yellow Rocket Concepts, a restaurant group that owns many of the popular restaurants in the Central Arkansas Area. We all want a fun, comfortable atmosphere where we can go to connect, relax, and celebrate. The reality is that in spaces where people are socializing and enjoying alcohol, there are often people who are uncomfortable or unsafe and people don’t know how to help. We give teams at alcohol-serving venues the skills to create the comfortable, safe, and fun atmosphere that attracts loyal customers. ???? Curious?
