  • What an amazing event! ?? The first annual Good Neighbor Car Seat Safety Fair was a fantastic opportunity to help families ensure their kids are secured in car seats that are installed correctly and that everyone is buckled up, every ride, every time. Huge thanks to the Arizona Cardinals Football Club and State Farm for making this possible! Looking forward to many more! ????

This month, we recognize the essential work that Black healthcare workers, researchers, community leaders, and public health professionals have done, and continue to do, to address the health disparities that impact Black communities. Their dedication to advancing the quality of care and prioritizing child safety is shaping a brighter, safer future for all children. Their work, in healthcare, child injury prevention, and beyond, ensures that children everywhere can dream big and grow up to be anything they imagine. At Safe Kids, we are grateful for their contributions, and we stand alongside them in our shared mission to keep all kids safe from preventable injuries.

Our hearts are with everyone impacted by the wildfires in Southern California. In response to this tragedy, we're taking action to support affected families. Read Safe Kids Worldwide President Torine Creppy's full statement and learn about our ongoing pledge to assist our networks today, tomorrow, and in the months ahead. Our mission remains steadfast: to provide lifesaving tools and education to all children and families.

The historic wildfires in Southern California continue to affect lives, destroy homes, and impact communities, including those served by Safe Kids Worldwide. As an organization dedicated to keeping children safe at home, at school, at play, and on the way, we are devastated by the loss of life and property. Families have been left without safe sleep environments, car seats, and funding to support other efforts around preventing childhood injuries. The Eaton and Palisades fires have displaced more than 100,000 people, burned an estimated 12,000 homes and structures, and claimed at least two dozen lives. Just as no water system in the world?could have effectively fought?these blazes, no amount of work to protect children and families could have helped prepare for, or prevent, a disaster of this magnitude. But we can remain present and engaged to assist our networks today and in the weeks and months ahead. This is our pledge. Our mission remains unchanged: To provide lifesaving tools and education to all children and families. As our coalitions and community partners in Southern California continue to assess the evolving needs of their communities, I am proud to report that we have created the Emergency Preparedness, Disaster Relief, and Resiliency Grant to help support their efforts. In addition, we are issuing automatic three-month extensions for all Child Passenger Safety Technicians and Instructors in the affected counties, which will provide flexibility as they respond to the additional demand for child passenger safety services that are sure to come. In the meantime, on behalf of the Safe Kids team and of the children and families we serve, we extend our gratitude to all those working to contain the fires and keep families and communities safe. We are holding the families affected by this devastating tragedy in our hearts.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” – Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. At Safe Kids Worldwide, we recognize that inequities in child safety reflect broader injustices. Too often, children in marginalized and under-resourced communities face higher risks of preventable injuries due to systemic barriers like unsafe environments and limited access to safety education. By addressing these inequities, we can help reduce the risk of preventable injuries in the communities most impacted, whether at home, at school, at play, or on the way. Dr. King dreamed of a future where his four children would “not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” Inspired by his vision, we dream of a bright future for ALL children—one where every child has the opportunity to grow up safe, happy, and free from preventable injuries. Dr. King’s words remind us that achieving justice means addressing these disparities. That’s why equity is at the heart of our mission to keep every child safe from preventable injuries. As we reflect on an incredible year, we’re proud to share some of the impact our coalition network made together in 2024! ??None of this would be possible without the support of the coalition lead agencies and their partners and volunteers. Together, we’re creating a safer world for our children—one step at a time.
