Moshe Safdie’s first visit to Raffles City Chongqing since its completion was a moment of reflection and celebration. Joined by Senior Partners Charu Kokate and Jeffrey Huggins, and Associate Principal Tunch Gungor, the visit highlighted the project's integration with the city’s urban fabric and its commanding presence at the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. The Crystal, a skybridge that spans across the towers, and includes lushly planted indoor gardens, an infinity pool and observation deck was a highlight for the team to experience. The visit underscores a vision of architecture that enhances urban life, bringing together people, nature, and the city at new heights. Earlier this year, Moshe Safdie visited Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design to celebrate the Hebrew release of his memoir, “If Walls Could Speak,” and share his architectural journey with students and faculty. Reflecting on decades of innovation, Moshe spoke about the principles that have guided his work—from Habitat 67 to Jewel Changi Airport —emphasizing the importance of creating community, shaping the public realm, and connecting with nature.
