We’re back on vision and mission… The big question is are you checking in on yours regularly? So we all know we should be doing this, but are we actually doing it? It’s a bit like the run you thought you’d do daily, or the washing pile that could give the leaning tower of Pizza a run for its money, the flowerbed that needs weeding, the dishwasher that needs unloading... A vision and mission needs attention, just like any other part of your business and life. Casey Hanisko (business coach extraordinaire) suggests checking in on it at least once a year. She says - "It isn't just about staying on track; it's about exploring new possibilities and ensuring your activities align with your core objectives." We say - look at it like clearing out the shoe cupboard under the stairs. Something that you keep putting off, but once done you will feel great. The process will bring you clarity - through rediscovery (maybe you unearth labeled shoe trays, or some forgotten tennis racquets) you remember not only what you’re meant to be doing, but also, crucially, what the whole thing was for in the first place. Casey recommends setting aside a day or half-day yearly to revisit your vision, mission, and other strategic topics. It reaffirms your path and it’s a good way to connect with your team.
