Thank you to everyone who made the SAE SoCal Section 2024-2025 section year kickoff meeting a success. Thank you to Lana Chrisman and the fantastic volunteers at the Lions Automobilia Foundation & Museum. Thank you to our featured speaker Christian Appel for a great presentation and a fun Q&A session. Thank you to my long-time friend Dan Passe, along with Allison Daigle, Nicole D. Rose, APR, Dan Duran and everyone at Nikola Corporation for making this presentation happen. It was both professional, and informal - a great combination. Thank you to Ryan K. ZumMallen and Jim Dvorak with the Motor Press Guild for their support. This was the first SAE/MPG collaboration since 2018. Hopefully we can do more. Thank you to SAE SoCal section chair J. Chris Bachman, along with board members Benjamin Highfill, Luis R. Mora, Michael A. Moyer, Delbert Boone, and John Steiner, EMBA, plus SAE International rep Matt Wasowski for making this a great start to the section year. For those who could not make it, our video wizard TJ Keon will have highlights posted to the SAE SoCal YouTube channel. We'll also have much better images than my snapshots from Myles Regan posted to the official SAE SoCal media channels in the weeks ahead. These events are 100% volunteer produced. We welcome you to get involved. Drop me a note for additional information.

Our membership chair posted this note seeking new faces to join the board. Can you help us make 2024-2025 our best section year ever?
Connecting the dots for people and companies for mutual benefit. SAE Volunteer/Advocate Note: If I don't already know you, please include a SHORT cover note explaining why you want to connect.
SAE SoCal is preparing for our 2024-2025 section year. We have some great plans in the works, but....WE NEED VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE THEM HAPPEN.?We have no paid staff.?Everything we do is 100% volunteer. Did you know that the SAE SoCal Section of SAE International is the second largest in the country? Did you know that SAE includes ALL modes of mobility??It’s not just ground transportation.?SAE includes aerospace. Did you know that our SAE SoCal section has had amazing collaborations with the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, the STAND21 SAFETY FOUNDATION, Performance Racing Industry (PRI), and the Lions Automobilia Foundation & Museum? Were you a Formula SAE or Baja SAE team member in college??We have 18 local teams who need mentoring.?Drop a note to our Vice Chair for Student Activities Benjamin Highfill at [email protected] to get involved.?There is a Zoom call this coming Wednesday (August 28th) at 6:00 pm if you want to learn more. A key topic on the call will be our annual fall student workshop set for Saturday, November 2nd. Are you a mid-career professional looking for a change??Active participation with SAE can open doors. Does your company struggle to find great talent??SAE SoCal has the largest population of local mobility engineering, scientific, and business experts, including our amazing students. Are you retired but want to stay involved with the industry??SAE SoCal welcomes you. Are you interested in STEM education??The SAE AWIM program might be an ideal volunteer opportunity for you. Our current board and recent volunteers includes Mike Guidry, J. Chris Bachman, Michael A. Moyer, John Steiner, EMBA, TJ Keon, Chad Bear, Delbert Boone, Luis R. Mora, Emily Sharp, MBA, Roger Horn, P.E., Omead Moinee, Glenn Oyoung, Myles Regan, Kelly Olischefski, MBA, J. Michael McCarthy, Justin Jang, Rachel Nichols, Darius Engineer, and Luis Morales. Since this is volunteer work, there are minimal time requirements — i.e. it’s NOT a big time drain.?If you can only contribute two or three hours a month, that’s fine.?If you’d prefer to help organize one event per year, that’s great as well.?We can find a niche where you’ll enjoy the involvement.?We only ask that you follow through with what you say you’ll do. Please share this post with other automotive professionals in Southern California — and by Southern California I mean anywhere between San Diego and San Luis Obispo! Drop a note to [email protected] if you would like to be invited to the next organizing meeting. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, September 24th when we kick off the section year at the Lions Museum with a presentation by Nikola Corporation As always, send me a note if you’d like to learn more. Thank you. Dean Case SAE volunteer since 1981
