Last month the SAE SoCal section hosted our 36th annual Fall Student Workshop. This was our biggest one ever! 275 students from two dozen schools attended. In addition to our regular SoCal Schools, we had a team from the University of Nevada Las Vegas join us, plus a number of students from Harvey Mudd College and Cal State San Marcos who are looking to start SAE Student Chapters. Many people made this happen, led by Benjamin Highfill and the student activities team. Thank you to Lana Chrisman and the volunteers from the Lions Automobilia Foundation & Museum. They have become amazing partners with SAE SoCal. If your company is looking for a great event space, this is it. It is so much better than a boring hotel ballroom. MARK YOUR CALENDAR: Saturday, March 8, 2025 will be our 4th Annual Student Showcase at the SEMA Garage in Diamond Bar. This is held in conjunction with the ETTN - SEMA Emerging Trends and Technology Network. For 2025 we anticipate additional support from the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) team. Over the past two years the Lions Automobilia Foundation & Museum has been an amazing partner for SAE SoCal. The facility is spectacular. The staff and volunteers are great, and we share the same passion for the industry, sport, and hands-on STEM education. If you want to support a toy drive, meet a few legends of the sport, do some holiday shopping, or check out cool cars to avoid the malls, mark Saturday on your calendar.

We are saddened to hear that motorcycle legend and all around nice guy Malcolm Smith has passed away.

Our friends at the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship & Business Ethics at Chapman University have invited SAE SoCal members to join them on Thursday, November 14th when they discuss "The Future of Transportation".
