The 2024 Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Northern California is on Monday, June 24th! Join team Sac PD to help us escort the Special Olympics torch, the “Flame of Hope” on its journey to the 2024 Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games in Santa Clara! Date: Monday, June 24, 2024 Time: Run will start at 9:15 am. Participants should plan to arrive by 8:30 am. Location: 5990 H Street (Fire Station 8) and will conclude at the west steps of the Capitol Details: The run is four miles at a 12-minute pace. It is not a race! Another retirement celebration! ?? Congratulations to Sergeant Shawn Ayers on his retirement! Sgt. Ayers has 23 years of dedicated service and spent time working numerous assignments such as; patrol, bike unit, Metro Problem Oriented Police (POP), and rounded out his career in Investigations where he had assignments in Felony Assaults, SACA, Homicide, Neighborhood Crimes Unit, and Robbery. We wish you nothing but the next in this next chapter and thank you for your commitment to Sac PD!

This month we will be getting to know some of our officers and civilian staff here at Sacramento PD. This also goes hand in hand with the one of Chief Lester’s initiatives 30x30, 30% females by 2030. The goal of the 30x30 Initiative is to increase the representation of women in law enforcement to 30% by 2030 and to ensure the policies and culture in the field support the success of women like Officer Love.
