For every blanket they gift to a client, we donate one to a homeless shelter in the recipient’s community, united in our mission to bring comfort and hope to those in need.

Not all blankets tell a story. Ours do. It begins in Prato, Italy. A small town just outside Florence, where Sackcloth & Ashes blankets are made—right in the heart of Renaissance country. For centuries, Prato has been the engine of Italy’s textile trade, where the hum of looms are as much a part of life as morning espresso. Here, fabric isn’t just made—it’s inherited. A man in his sixties traces his family’s yarn business back generations. A younger artisan chooses the mill over modern careers, carrying forward a tradition that nearly disappeared. Fast fashion almost wiped them out. Some fought to keep their family businesses alive; others had to close their doors. But those who remained never stopped weaving, proving that quality, artistry, and human connection matter more than profit margins. When Sackcloth & Ashes partnered with Prato eight years ago, it wasn’t just about fabric—it was about the people. The story. Many of the mills we work with have perfected recycled wool long before sustainability was a buzzword. When you wrap yourself in one of our blankets, you’re not just buying a product—you’re stepping into a story. A legacy of perseverance and reinvention. Because in Prato, fabric isn’t just fabric. It’s resilience, woven into every thread.
