This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the strength and resilience of women like Milan. After facing life’s challenges as a single mother, Milan found a supportive community at The Salvation Army Eagle Creek through THRIVE night. We delivered more than 50 mattresses and box springs to the residents at Booth Manor this week. Booth Manor is an apartment complex for low-income seniors. Residents were so appreciative of the gift. Thank you to Hyatt Regency in Bloomington, IN for the donation of the mattresses and box springs and thank you to TWO MEN AND A TRUCK? for picking them up and dropping the mattresses in every room. Community partners coming together to help people in a simple way can go very far!

A woman who escaped domestic violence fled to The Salvation Army Ruth Lilly Women and Children's Center last year for help. Commissioner Israel L. Gaither became the first black US National Commander for The Salvation Army in 2006. He also served as the first black divisional and territorial commanders in the US. Throughout his long career, he served on boards that worked toward inclusivity and equality. Because of Commissioner Gaither young black salvationists have another example of what it means to break barriers to better serve God and spread his mission. #BlackHistoryMonth
