Today I attended a members webinar from American Marketing Association on "The Ethical Marketer: Navigating Responsibility in a Connected World" featuring: Divya Sridhar, Ph.D., BBB National Programs David W. Stewart, Loyola Marymount University Maura L. Scott, Arizona State University Their varied backgrounds and experience in not only developing marketing strategy and policy, but researching and advocating for ethical practice was very interesting. At the end of the session, they were asked to name something that marketers should focus on in the next 5 years - and the answers were varied but all compelling: 1. Focus not only on how we are going to use AI as marketers, but how consumers will use AI - for good or bad. How will the use of AI change consumer behavior? How will it impact what data/information they share? How will it change their expectations? 2. There's been a focus in recent years on proper data collection via marketing cookies, forms, etc. but the focus is shifting to the type of data, and protecting sensitive information and transparency around what is being collected and how it's used. 3. Putting thought into untapped markets as we strive for inclusive excellence in our work - seeing inclusion as a way to expand markets and broaden business.
