Native Americans in Rye: Lecture, Q&A, and Artifact Exhibit ?? November 16th, 3:30pm-5pm ?? Rye Free Reading Room, Rye, NY Join us for a journey through Rye’s Native American history, led by Rye Historical Society Board Member Joie Cooney. Back by popular demand, this special event features a lecture, Q&A session, and—new for the first time—a display of artifacts from the Morgan Seacord Collection. These artifacts, catalogued by Josie LaRiccia, include arrowheads, hunting tools, and hand-drawn maps from 1918. Josie began volunteering with RHS in 1993, and after reconnecting with us in 2023, she created an online inventory of over 1,500 items, including original hand-written notes dating back to the late 1800s. About Morgan Seacord (1879-1971): A dedicated attorney and historian from New Rochelle, Seacord was deeply involved with the Huguenot and Historical Association of New Rochelle and the Westchester County Historical Society. In 1965, he generously donated his extensive archaeological collection from the Long Island Sound coast to the Rye Historical Society. A wine and cheese reception will precede the lecture. Attendance is free and open to the public.
