Continuing our November month of highlighting our amazing interns, we are excited to showcase Mary Kopchick! Mary Kopchick is a fourth-year pharmacy student at Rutgers University with a passion for improving patient care through evidence-based decision-making, interprofessional education, and mentoring. Her interests include critical care, infectious diseases, and oncology, where she aims to enhance treatment outcomes and support patients with complex needs. Throughout her academic journey, Mary has excelled in diverse clinical rotations and projects, showcasing adaptability, leadership, and problem-solving skills in challenging healthcare settings. She is currently preparing for a PGY-1 residency to further refine her clinical expertise and make a meaningful impact on patient care. Mary is working on creating a pharmacy technician guide and online course to support aspiring pharmacy technicians to pass the #PTCE licensure exam!

Continuing our November intern month highlights, we are excited to showcase Denise Obaji! Denise Obaji is a fourth-year pharmacy student at Long Island University, with a strong foundation in research, population health, and the pharmaceutical industry. She earned her Master of Public Health in 2023, demonstrating her dedication to improving healthcare outcomes. Throughout her academic and professional journey, she has excelled in multiple roles, showcasing her adaptability in navigating complex medical and regulatory landscapes. Currently, Denise serves as Chief Marketing Officer in Residence at RxPharmacist and as a pharmacy intern at Rite Aid, where she continues to refine her skills in communications, marketing, strategic planning, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Her diverse experiences, including externships at Pfizer and the Food and Drug Administration, equips her with skills to be an innovative leader in advancing safe and effective healthcare solutions. Denise is excited to go into fellowship opportunities with the pharmaceutical industry.

This week, we would like to highlight Corinne Steele who is a fourth-year pharmacy student at the University of Mississippi. She is interested in chronic disease state management and infectious diseases in an inpatient clinical setting. Corinne is an independent thinker and creative problem solver who wants to leverage her skills to enhance patient care and optimize medication management. During her time with us, she is creating the Mississippi MPJE study guide. She is aiming to get a residency program in the state of Mississippi.

#Pharmacy deserts. What is it? It's where you don't have access to a pharmacy in your immediate area and have to travel a long distance to get to one. Some may say it was bound to happen with the continued push towards mail-order pharmacy. CVS even recently announced this past month it may have to close 2,000 store locations by 2027. But what happens if you need help now? What happens if you have older parents who just want to see someone in person to get help because that's how they trust them?
