It's time we take charge of the narrative surrounding #energyexpansion. To do that, we must first address how we communicate development plans. Too often, big announcements lack solid, penciled-out economic realities or fail to account for potential policy changes. As a result, many communities are left shortchanged—losing out on jobs, tax revenue, and, in some cases, desperately needed revitalization. Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and Letters of Intent (LOIs) are vital steps in building business relationships. However, headlines frequently exaggerate their significance, implying that these preliminary agreements guarantee "steel in the ground." MOUs simply help us identify potential partners, and LOIs establish the framework for collaboration. At this stage, it's all about planning, not building. Unfortunately, this isn't entirely within individual companies' control. Media and industry channels often amplify even small signs of progress to fuel excitement. The real issue isn't just the availability of capital—it's the growing distrust in the authenticity of proposed projects. Time and again, we've seen announcements used to raise capital based on hope rather than strategy. We must do a better job of transparently communicating the true stages of project development to communities, investors, and employees. To that end, here's a suggested framework for aligning tones with the milestones in announcements: MOU signed: Thumbs up! ?? LOI signed: Fist pump! ?? Letter of Commitment signed: Round of applause! ?? Binding contracts signed: Break out the confetti and call your friends! ?? Construction underway: Time to do a jig! ?? Operations commenced: Tip of the cap! ?? If we can educate the market on these stages and deliver truth in our announcements, we’ll create more authentic opportunities to grow energy expansion. This is my perspective—now the choice is yours.

We're thrilled to share that RW Energy was?selected to be a sub-awardee for the?cutting-edge Direct Air Capture (DAC) Hub in one of the best geological storage regions in the world – the Illinois Basin! With a simulated cumulative capacity of nearly 1 Gigatonne CO2, this hub represents a game-changing opportunity to tackle climate challenges.??In?partnership with University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Visage Energy and a list of other innovative companies, RW Energy is tasked with developing economic models to assist?in?developing the Business and Financial Plan for the IL Basin DAC Hub. ???Key Features of the DAC Hub: ? Initial capacity: 200 KTA (Year 1 of operation), with the potential to scale rapidly beyond 1 MTA. ? This is just the beginning – 1 Megatonne CO2 is only a fraction of the region's massive storage potential. ? Powered by industry-leading DAC technology providers: Carbon Capture Inc. (100 KTA) and Heirloom (100 KTA). Together, we’re taking significant strides toward large-scale carbon removal, storage adn utilization. Stay tuned as we continue to optimize and innovate! #DAC #CarbonCapture #Sustainability #Innovation *Image Source: IL Basin DAC Hub Website
